1/2 I have deactivated my account on Twitter (X), which began in 2007. Under Elon Musk, Twitter has not only decided to stop blocking bigots and liars and pro-insurrectionists, it has actively welcomed them, with apparent support from Mr. Musk.
@waltmossberg@Gargron@nnscott Great point! That said, my account got so much easier to use when I logged in via Mammoth instead of Mastadon (App not website) ... I’m amazed it’s not the default. I recommend it now to all my friends coming over from twitterverse. #mastodon
@evanwolf It seems that #Mastodon is made for #newsmedia and #newrooms with their own servers, their own writers, and their own curated content without being controlled by a billionaire.
In my humble opinion, this app would be better if the servers act the way that Discord servers act. It looks too much of an old computer, it feels that as a user it's designed like a program than a fully fledge app.
It deserves more color too and not the minimalist light and dark. I also think that the profile page could take some pointers from Tumblr, where you can change the fonts as well as have an option to make a list, enlarge texts etc.
Attaching photos on this app is also very limited, the moment I opened the option, it only showed three of my albums. This app has potential, it has a good enough start for it to be used for fandom and other random shitposting. May it get the update it deserves.

For those of you who like #Bluesky but are also active here on #Mastodon (or the #Fediverse in general), what specifically do you like most about Bluesky? I've casually been using Bluesky and here's what I like the most that Mastodon does not (yet) have:
Quote posting
Relative ease of discovering new people
For (2), the ability to see all the people who someone follows makes a big difference. Something I wish Mastodon would address. As for (1), it's coming... at some point.
Was the "disable showing boosts more than once in the timeline" thing a #Mastodon, Mastodon Web client or #Tusky feature? I swear I saw that but can't find it any more..
Vendredi, descente dans la plaine. À nouveau réussir l'exploit de remplir le frigo avec la porte monnaie vide. En même temps c'est une gageure intéressante.
is there a way on #mastodon to filter out the boosts from people that bost every one of their own posts? getting tired of seeing every post twice from some people.
Most of the time, when I try to refresh a post or go to the comments in a thread, it takes a ludicrously long time for it to load… like, 1996 28.8k modem slow. Five minute waits are not unusual, and that’s not an exaggeration. I feel like this is not something that should be happening in 2023. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this? #MastodonHelp#Mastodon
#Mastodon Thanks everyone. That gives me some stuff to look at. While I am comfortable researching some tech stuff on my own, for some reason the switch to a new email service feels...scary somehow. But.. I can't take the google stuff much longer and their G-Suite fees seem high to me, although I was stuck with it since I have two other people who have to be able to log in to our podcast account.
Can anyone on #mastodon drop a guide in a reply for blocking instances and just getting politics out of my feed? I don’t want to delete Mastodon but I really don’t want to see the same BS that made me leave Twitter.
I spoke with a group of social media managers today about Mastodon and the Fediverse, how I use Mastodon for research communications and building a community of interest around our team's work, plus my thoughts on Mastodon's trajectory.
I've been here since November, and while there certainly are some limitations to navigate, I find joy in Mastodon and cultivating my social media garden. I'm eager to see how Mastodon and the Fediverse develops in the next year!
For several reasons (don’t @ me) I still have accounts on those other sites (winding down) and it’s continuously baffling to me that people I consider politically and academically smart continue to complain about #enshittification (of the #birxsite, of Google, of Chrome) but can’t be arsed to use the alternatives that are already in place. What is this phenomenon? Even those fleeing the #birdsite go to #bluesky - and talk about how it will very probably go down the same route. But #Mastodon is „unusable“, say the super communist critics of #tech on the central website of the very industry they complain about
