It's batshit that #Excel doesn't quote CSV exports by default (yes, I know the standard says "may" and not "must" and, yes, you can make custom export templates but what a pain in the ass).

(This is all you need to know about how my day is going)

Ist #Apache #OpenOffice eine Fork vom ursprünglichen OpenOffice oder ist das einfach eine uralte Website (kein Datum gesehen)?

    https://www.openoffice.org/why/index.html

Woanders habe ich gelesen, daß LibreOffice der offizielle Nachfolger ist (woran ich mich nun auch erinnerte).

Deine obenstehende Umstellungs-Aussage bezog sich jedoch auf #LibreOffice, korrekt?

@dennisl I switched to LibreOffice years ago and never looked back.

I understood that many developers had moved to LibreOffice, and OpenOffice had since stalled?

In terms of accessibility, LibreOffice continues to improve their export-to-PDF engine. They can now generate a PDF that is often pretty much compliant with PDF/UA.

Though I still use Microsoft Office for client work.

I'm curious to try OnlyOffice. I wonder how it compares?

Good morning fr #Pasadena. I think I may skip looking at the news this morning since I don’t expect much improvement compared to yesterday… Instead I’m going to focus on continuing planning and pricing a fence between our & my neighbor’s driveways.

Yesterday I spent 3 hours walking around Home Depot & Ganahl pricing supplies, mostly wood which are so expensive (probably as it should be mind you.) It was lunchtime but was surprised how empty both stores were.

Today we will have 🌤️ & 28°c (82°F) which is almost right on average for this day! 👍🏻 But it’s supposed to get a lot hotter for the rest of this week before it cools off again Sun or Mon.

Pix from my supplies pricing trip to #GanahlLumber, one of my fave store. Today will likely be mostly spreadsheet work. I love #Spreadsheets. I use #OpenOffice

As you can see I use steel posts holders instead of sinking the posts in the concrete, in the ground. Steel clamps help prevent early posts failures from rot, beetles & termites that eat the posts if sunken in the ground even when in concrete. Plus it’s much easier with steel holders to replace a post if it does fail.

Galvanized steel 4 by 4 post holder. $37.29 ea or $416.99/dozen
    Galvanized 4-inch carriage bolts $2.05/each or $77.87/50
Fast setting quickrete concrete bags $8.99/ea

    つい先だって #libreoffice をインストールしてみたんだが、#openoffice より#excel との互換性は高いっぽい。

Looks like you have now forked #Tusky to #Pachli.

And included into Pachli 1.0 some of your planned work for Tusky, right?

Will Pachli now develop on its own or share code with Tusky in the future?

    I noticed the following:

I would be interested in more details about the planned future of Pachli...

Btw.: As you are located in Switzerland, are you also speaking German?

    nick,

    @nikclayton @pachli

So #Pachli will more following the model of #LibreOffice and #OpenOffice. Forked to a new product.

And not adding additional stuff, while also updating the original core (like i assume, #Megalodon is doing with #MfA (#Mastodon for #Android)).

Just a reminder #OpenOffice still exists! openoffice.apache.org/blog/ann… I personally still prefer it over #LibreOffice. I'm all for less churn, more stability, and smaller learning curves. I still use both, though, as the improvements to LibreOffice #Draw, particularly the ability to open #Microsoft #Visio files is useful for me. #Apache #FreeSoftware #GNU #Linux (and #windows & #MacOS too if you must)

Does anyone have any recent experience with #OpenOffice vs. #LibreOffice?

I really like #LibreOffice, but I find even "LibreOffice Still" a bit buggy for work use. Particularly sudden drops in speed when dealing with complex spreadsheets (or for no reason at all)

There was a time when I loved working by computer. But apps are so dodgy it's hard to get anything done reliably. MS Word constantly flashes extraneous page thumbnails & bits of garbage as I compose. Warns me it can't sync with cloud then it can. So distracting. Adobe rushes out updates that mess up so bad I spend a day fixing it. Chrome & any apps relying on it crash continuously. Can I go back to buying software & have it run w/o the cloud. I hate this future. #technology #rant

@libreoffice @avon_deer @aetus yeah, that"s because basically gave the original devs the middle finger and they hard-forked to .

And then Oracle made it basically so it ended up at the Apache Foundation...

Similar to vs. but both are and don't share any codebase whatsoever!
