My daily breakfast is very simple plain oatmeal with milk. I know I need to keep some consistency in my diet for my mental health (medication levels but also psychological I guess).

Any suggestions of a simple(!) for breakfast?

These sorts of things seem either too complicated or filled with eggs. https://www.epicurious.com/recipes-menus/easy-passover-breakfast-recipe-ideas-gallery

We cannot talk about Passover, a holiday celebrating Jewish liberation, without talking about the extreme violence and dispossession carried out against Palestinians at this very time in the name of the Jewish people.

I’ve translated below the words of Simon Assoun, who organizes with me as part of Tsedek!, a collective of decolonial Jews in France. Simon’s words exactly convey my feelings at this time.

What I want to say to you this evening at this revolutionary and historic Seder in the Streets is that too many of our people are worshiping a false idol once again. They are enraptured by it. They are drunk on it. They are profaned by it. And that false idol is called Zionism."

Masa Tiganitas is Sephardi Matzah Brei, But Much Better

Baklava meets matzah brei in this delicious Greek dish for Passover.

By Rachel Ringler | April 14, 2020

"...In Sternberg’s version, matzah squares are soaked in milk, dipped in a combination of egg and yogurt and then fried in oil. As opposed to matzah brei, or bumelos de masa, the matzah in Sternberg’s recipe is not crushed. They are left whole, dunked, fried and then sweetened with a drizzle of honey or arrope (a syrup made of grapes), and topped with a sprinkling of walnuts. Think fried matzah meets baklava. I am in love.

Recipe reprinted with permission from “The Sephardic Kitchen” by Rabbi Robert Sternberg..."

Passover potsherd from Elephantine, Egypt.
This letter was written in Aramaic on a potsherd (ostraca) c. 2,475 years ago at the settlement of Elephantine, Egypt, home to a Jewish community.
It contains one of the earliest known references to the Jewish festival of Passover.

commemorates the escape of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, led by Moses through the wilderness back to the land of Canaan.

For Passover I’m trying to almost completely avoid Matza. @ylove and I discovered African dishes are kosher for Passover. We are making doro wat with fufu. Going to try and make Injera later as well.

I’m Sephardi so the Japanese rice cooker should be in today as well so we always have rice ready.

Just trying to avoid the damn matza bathroom issues especially in light of my recent hospital visit we think due to sugars.

In light of discussions recently this story about a protest seder was interesting. It has roots in the civil rights fights of the 1960's, so it is not a unique or particularly horrible event now. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/stop-arming-israel-passover-protest-brooklyn-harkens-back-1969-freedom-seder-2024-04-24/

I'm sure both some of the student protestors as well as the ones supported by ADL have probably crossed the line BUT don't forget about provocateurs. They are out there, usually provided by govt or its allies. COINTELPRO.
