Now here’s some good news for adoption of Mastodon. Wordpress / Automattic is promoting sharing to Mastodon through its Jetpack plugin in its latest email to users today! This is the most installed plugin on the most used web software in the world. Being a “first class” part of the functionality of this software matters. #Mastodon#Wordpress#blogging#Web#Jetpack#Plugins#Instagram
After more than a year of using the Dark Reader plugin for Firefox to make all websites have a dark mode (so easy on the eyes), I have regretfully turned it off. Too many websites were suffering degraded performance, with slow loading times and long lags. Tracked it down to Dark Reader, which also had caused me previous issues with a site I logged into (couldn't log in if it was on).
I've switched now to "Dark Background," which works perfectly fine.
Tried deploying to WP.org straight from—I know—GitHub and it seems to work, yay!
I’m always super late at adopting these things. (And generally stay away from hypes. I don’t use npm or Tailwind or SCSS. No GameStop stock for me. I use a 9-year-old Windows laptop. And so on.)
Practical question: I have the plugin ActivityPub added to my Wordpress site. Can’t figure out how to autopost to Mastodon and I have a sneaking suspicion that’s not what this plugin is for. Anyone know of a good way to do this? #blogging#plugins#wordpress#writing#WritingCommunity
I've been playing around with the Jetpack app (Android version on my Samsung S21) to write, edit and post to WordPress and I'm REALLY loving it. It's so intuitive-- cool things like when you do a hard return, it makes a new block, and the blocks have arrows to move them up and down, etc. It's wild. It's also really easy to format things, and I'm finding the UI excellent and easy to figure out without much thought at all, which is a total surprise. Should've been using this earlier!
I wondered what´s "AiScript" in the settings and whether it has anything to do with Artificial Intelligence. Yeah, laugh at me all you want, I laugh with you! 😉
Version 0.15.0 of Share on Mastodon is out. It comes with a “template” setting, which supports very basic tags. The per-post “custom message” feature has been improved, too. And image alt text is now fetched from the post content (with the Media Library value as a fallback).
One of my clients was using #MonsterInsights for their #analytics. I was deactivating #plugins to see which had a negative impact on performance. Most of them didn't do much but when I deactivated Monster Insights I gained 300ms back from total blocking time.
This took me from an 82 to a 98 for mobile performance in #PageSpeedInsights. To make sure, I activated & deactivated 4 times and each time it was the same result!
Oh thank fuck, Kush is finally rolling out Apple Silicon versions of their #DAW#plugins. I could theoretically live without them but man do I have more fun mixing when they’re available. Bless and UBK-1 in particular. Now I just need Plugin Alliance to finish their Pro Tools implementation. #musicproduction
"WordPress.com sites now have an easier way to integrate with the Fediverse, including Mastodon. Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, Tumblr and other web publishing tools, is the new owner of the ActivityPub for WordPress plugin and has also recruited its developer to come work for the company, according to Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg."
For everyone that’s been bitten by Waves switching to subs only, r/mixingmastering is putting together a huge spreadsheet of alternatives for all #Waves#plugins. #audio#musicproduction#daw
Do you have a WordPress blog? Did you know you can connect it to the Fediverse?
✅ There's a WordPress plugin which lets people on Mastodon (and the rest of the Fediverse) follow, share and comment on your blog. It's called ActivityPub For Wordpress and you can get it from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub
