Gajim 1.8.0 has been released 🥳 and it comes with integrated OMEMO encryption! Integrating the OMEMO plugin brings tighter integration and better user experience.
We also rearranged the chat menu and added some quick buttons for convenience.
Both Gajim’s message search and conversation view received some important changes and fixes.
Friendly reminder that we here at #AllThingsTech just launched our own Discord server as well!
We feel that there are often times that longer, more in-depth conversations are wanted/needed and Discord is a great place to have those conversations.
It's a great place to give us feedback about our server, things we're doing, or not doing, or anything similar!
Come join here if you'd like as we'd love to have anyone and everyone!
Ahhhhhhhh this is what I needed... This #GNOME app allows me to have all my #chat clients in one program again. I'm so sick of having a bunch of web or psuedonative apps just to talk to people. ONE! like back in the day with #Pidgin. That was great. Today is such a mess, but #Tangram improves the situation a lot.
I finally found all the testing reports for #VOICE (VOICE Organized Investigation of Chat Engines). The group found each other through the fediverse in 2019, and ran 5 group testing sessions on different voice/ video chat apps (a curious synchronicity that realtime conferencing became so critical in 2020).
I'd like to run some more sessions this year, so if you're keen to participate, join our matrix chat room (#voicechat:matrix.org) or hit me up here.
The second thing that myself, @kylewritescode and @og have launched is our own Discord server.

We are happy to announce some new features for our community that our admins, @kylewritescode and @cliffwade have been hard at work on for the past month or so.
First, we now have a Wiki (wiki.allthingstech.social)! This will be a central source for everyone to learn more about not only Mastodon, but also AllThingsTech. Have a look around!
Second, we have setup up our own chat server (chat.allthingstech.social) for our community. Come join us!
"Unfortunately, #Converso is not open source and their website is totally silent on cryptographic primitives and protocols, which is highly unusual for a self-proclaimed 'state-of-the-art' privacy application."
"Highly unusual" is the understatement of the century. If anyone believes encryption software can reliably protect their privacy without publishing full source code, I have a bridge they may wish to purchase.
I want to use #GoogleChat in an organization, but users don't use gMail for email (the organization has Microsoft Exchange), and there are no email notifications from Google Chat - is it even worth trying?
