A Russian missile attack has killed 11 people in the city of Chernihiv in northern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials. A spokesman for Ukraine's president said there were more than 50 victims of the attack, which hit an eight-storey building in a densely populated area....
The monument honors #OleksandrMatsievskiy, who was posthumously awarded a medal after a widely shared video showed him being shot dead by his Russian captors. A sniper with a unit from the region of #Chernihiv, he can be seen saying "#SlavaUkraini," before slumping to the ground. While looking at Oleksandr's award, his mother said he "would have taken all of them with him if he had a grenade."

The armed forces commander Lieutenant General Nayev is quoted as saying there were now 19 000 Russian troops mustered near one part of the border, attacking with rockets, artillery and drones. They were attempting to destroy energy, transport and industrial infrastructure, he said, but also preparing strike groups which might launch a new offensive into Ukrainian territory.

Sophia was the only and long-awaited child of her parents, Olga and Oleksandr. Her mom is in hospital. Her dad is defending Ukraine in the Army, a family friend wrote.
