I don't know, but it's ironic that not long ago the #BBC wanted to reduce funding for the #BBCWorldService, and now we have war in Europe, it's probably more needed now than ever.
The BBC needs a more modern way of financing itself. It's something I've been looking at myself.
On 20 Nov, 2 missiles hit a hospital in Selydove, #Ukraine. Although no MSF staff were harmed, several people in the hospital were injured and 3 people were killed.
This is the 2nd attack within a week on a hospital in Ukraine where MSF is present. #UkraineWar
The US State Dept says it's too early to say for sure whether #Israel is heeding US advice to protect civilians in its renewed offensive in #Gaza . But it did say the US had seen Israel making much more targeted requests for civilian evacuations in southern Gaza. Though international media aren't paying attention, last Saturday saw 500k people on the street to join the feminist cause to end the violence against women, and all other people the #patriarchy keeps hurting, everyday, everywhere, all the time.
The head of the #Kyiv region says infrastructure was damaged, in a 2nd successive night of Russian drone attacks. Ruslan Kravchenko published a photo of what appeared to be an electricity facility aflame. The Ukrainian airforce said it had shot down 15 or 20 drones across the country. Last winter Russia launched a sustained campaign against Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
#Israel's national security adviser has said that the war cabinet agreed to allow two #fuel lorries a day into #Gaza in order to prevent a collapse of the sewage treatment system. Tzachi Hanegbi said this would have risked the mass spread of disease in Gaza, which could in turn have forced Israel - in his words - to 'stop the war'. A far right member of Israel's coalition government, Bezalel Smotrich, has criticized the cabinet's decision as 'illegal'. (cont.)
A Gaza health official says that 31 premature babies have now been evacuated from Al-#Shifa hospital. The dir gen said 3 doctors and 2 nurses accompanied the babies to leave Gaza via #Rafah. Earlier, intnl doctors visited al-Shifa hospital, describing it as being like a death zone, with signs of gunfire and shelling and a mass grave at the entrance. (cont.)

It also said intensified air attacks had hit a 150 underground targets and killed several senior #Hamas commanders. Hamas's armed wing says it is engaging Israeli troops. Scientists say it is now too late to prevent the melting of the West #Antarctic ice sheet from heating caused by greenhouse gas emissions. The study -- published in Nature #Climate Change -- found that the melting of the ice will continue to accelerate even if emissions are controlled. They say the likely sea-level rise would be greater than previously assumed. But the report says we can still save the ice on the other side of Antarctica which sits on land #ClimateChange

#Hamas militants in #Gaza have released two elderly female #hostages seized during the group's deadly rampage through southern #Israel (on & Oct). It says the move follows mediation efforts by #Qatar and #Egypt. The news was confirmed by the ICRC. Earlier the BBC was told that negotiations to release at least 50 more hostages had entered what were described as a “critical phase”.

#BBCWorldService news BREAKING #Ukrainian media are reporting a major build-up of #Russian forces to the north of #Ukraine. The armed forces commander Lieutenant General Nayev is quoted as saying there were now 19 000 Russian troops mustered near one part of the border, attacking with rockets, artillery and drones. They were attempting to destroy energy, transport and industrial infrastructure, he said, but also preparing strike groups which might launch a new offensive into Ukrainian territory.

Shirel Hogeg went viral after he was captured on camera heckling an #Israeli minister:
“You lot need to apologise... you’ve left a deep tear in the people of Israel,” he was seen shouting.
His family was injured when #Hamas militants attacked their home.
He told the BBC: “We were caught unguarded. The government, the army and intelligence. And this is a failure. Nobody is hiding that. Because it happened on your watch, we will be sure that you'll take responsibility.”
Reuters is just reporting that the #US, #Israel and #Egypt have agreed to a #ceasefire in southern #Gaza to coincide with the reopening of the #Rafah crossing on the Gaza-Egypt border. We had earlier seen media reports saying the Egyptian-controlled Rafah crossing - now the only possible road out of Gaza - will be open "for a few hours" on Monday #IDF spox on air just now with #BBCWorldService didn't seem to have any knowledge of any such agreement
