As some of you may remember, I have been live-trapping chipmunks and relocating them to the (not too) nearby park.
Well, I relocated 27 of them… and then realized there is an infinite supply.
When I first started this endeavor I figured maybe there was like 4 or 5 of them.
No matter how many chippies I relocate to the park, there does not seem to be any less of them in the yard. [looks] there’s 2 of them there right now.
I cannot bring myself to kill them.
Wifey tried getting one of those "lifelike" owls that move a bit in the breeze. 😂 Doesn't work at all. I fully expect to see chippie sitting on the owl any day now, mocking me.
Supposedly strong smells can deter them, so like... peppermint oil, or garlic oil, or coffee grounds, or other such things, but it rains here so that would be effective for about a week at most.
Perhaps I should just get a yard cat/fox/wolf/komodo. 😼 🦊🐺 🐲

An average-sized chipmunk measuring four inches in length is almost as long as two golf tees lined up end to end. The biggest species is the Eastern chipmunk. An adult Eastern chipmunk measures about 11 inches long, from the tip of its nose to the tip of its bristly tail.
I went out looking for birds, but all I saw were some far away green teal, some unidentifiable sparrows and this guy. I think I will stick with the feeders for the time being, even though it feels like spring (I can't believe I went birding in Feb in just a sweatshirt... well, and pants). #nature#chipmunk#naturephotography#HoosierMast
