"nsurers are coming off some of their worst years in history. Catastrophic damage from storms and wildfires is one big reason. The past decade of global natural catastrophes has been the costliest ever. Warmer temperatures have made storms worse and contributed to droughts that have elevated wildfire risk. Too many new homes were built in areas at risk of fire.
As losses mounted, inflation only made matters worse, boosting the cost of repairing or replacing cars or homes.
Climate change also has made it harder for insurers to measure their risks, pushing some to demand even higher premiums to cushion against future losses. " #insurance#climate#weather#wildfires#disasters

Public health agencies have spent 4 years explaining to everyone that "only the vulnerable" need to worry about things like #Covid. Then they turn right around & refuse to protect the vulnerable.
Drs. & their secretaries almost brag about their right not to wear a mask, as if they're happy to kill their patients.
They break the first rule.
They do harm.
We see this attitude with #climate change. We see it with the ongoing #genocide in #Gaza. A large majority of people don't care. They don't care about their chronically ill family. They don't care about Palestinian children. They don't care about all the #disasters happening.
Tens of millions of people don't want to try anymore. They want to accept the status quo. They want normal, no matter how many people get sacrificed for it." https://www.okdoomer.io/the-great-abdication/

(California) is "not the only state facing challenges to keep communication systems running. As wildfires burned through Maui this year, many peoples’ cell phones stopped working. An influx of calls jammed emergency services, and power outages and damage to cell towers cut phone service. This resulted in a “catastrophic communications failure,” according to one state senator, which made it even more difficult for people to evacuate." #disasters#communications#DisasterPreparedness
