NEW EBIKE! https://youtu.be/vmD87w2Z_QU
Partnering with Velotric to road test their new cargo bike and this thing HAULS! Like, literally. It's not just quick, it actually hauls a lot of gear.
Here are my early thoughts on the Velotric Go 1!
Forgot to mention that I was able to ride my bike (Lovelace/Lovey) for the first time in over a month today after the chiro. It was a short ride and I kept the assist really high, plus stopped sensibly before the giant hill to sit on a bench and regroup. Did my back hurt after? Yes. Was I happy to be able to do it? also yes!! #CargoBike#Ebike#WarOnCars#yyc
On today’s episode of “Yes! You can carry that on a cargo bike!”: a 4’x4’ piece of peg board. Pro tip: the child seat really helps (The staff at Dunn Lumber, which doesn’t even have bike racks, thought I was crazy but I proved them wrong) #seabikes#BikeTooter#cycling#seattle#ebike#ebikes
Had a great time with friends participating in our community's first ever Slow Food Cycle event! We visited local farms and bought veggies and fruit, freshly baked bread, gourmet mushrooms, and fancy cheese, had a picnic at a one of our neighbourhood cideries, and finished the day by meeting more friends at the local beer farm. Organizers expected 70 participants and almost 400 signed up. 💪 🚲⚡ ✌️
Since this was published today, on Father's Day, I'll note that almost every 2-3 trips I take to the grocery store via #ebike, a middle-aged or older man will walk up to me as I pack up my groceries and ask fascinated questions about how they work, how much they cost, and how convenient they are.
A lot of dads don't know it yet, but trust me: dads want ebikes.
long shot but if anyone in the richmond district is down to share a sewing machine w/ me, i can share my #switch oled & #ebike in return... ;o; #sanfrancisco
It is astounding how many people showed up on a post about e-bikes to dunk on them. I love my #ebike I'm not using it to exercise, I'm using it to get places. I don't care that it's not as good of a workout. Not everyone can comfortable ride a regular bike, not everyone wants to. #BikeTooter
Other #ebike owners sure do like talking about their e-bikes, which is great because I like talking about mine. Just had a 10 minute conversation with a guy in Hayhurst while riding through his neighborhood. Love the sense of community.
I'm looking for a COTS or MOTS option here. I can do some soldering if need be.
I am looking for a DC input charge control board for some #LiFePO4 batteries. Ideally 12, 24, or 48 volts, and at least 100 Watts. 2 stage constant current/constant voltage, of course.
I have searched high and low and everything available is an AC/DC converter. I specifically want a DC input.
Anyone know if #solar mttp chargers are acceptable to use with DC voltage generators?
I have quite a few trips to London in the coming weeks, and one of the reasons why I look forward to them, aside from the work (I love what I do...), is that I get to ride my #ebike.
I liked my "normal" bike but, for commuting, especially in the nicer weather, the ebike is just superb. Fast, no need for the tube, and I get to meeting in a more pleasant state than if I'd been on my normal bike. And riding around London is far more pleasant than I had anticipated.
"In 2022, 4,734 #Denver residents became new #ebike owners. The city's ebike incentive program is considered successful #climate and economic policy, and now we have the data to back it up."
"The success of the Denver rebate program—and its clear impact on reducing transportation #emissions—suggests that policymakers need to take e-bikes much more seriously as a climate action tool.”
"Where once my calculation about whether to ride someplace had to take into account whether the steep hills between me and, say, downtown D.C. would make the ride a torturous ordeal, now those hills disappear..."
"Once I realized this, I made a vow: If I’ve got an errand that’s within 5 miles of my house, I’m gonna ride there. For the most part, I’ve fulfilled that pledge"
I was really over thinking this. We can totally build platforms out of trash on which servers can sit. Add a bunch of rags, strings, or bunji cords and you've got your mobile media platform, on even a regular bike, we can just drop batteries in the basket. that basket is also only held on by 2 zip ties which is less than ideal. If i work with a proper bike mechanic i think this is a very easy problem to solve. in the end it's just a little handlebar desk. that's the social media "platform". literally a triangular piece of trash on which your web server sits.
I still need to figure out the power supply issue to get from #ebike to chromebook. but if they have longer battery life than a cruise time, maybe we don't even care to get started. i can certainly use a random lipo in this configuration in the basket.
First grocery run by #bike. Also grabbed some cold stuff bags from Trader Joe’s that will go perfectly on the side when I put my running boards on. #ebike#pdxbike
How E-Bike Battery Fires Became a Deadly Crisis in New York City (www.nytimes.com)
City leaders are racing to regulate battery-powered mobility devices, which have been the source of over 100 fires so far this year.
