Been looking at Aventon’s “Abound” cargo bike for months.
The Black Friday deal was too good to pass up. $600 off the bike, plus $600 worth of accessories for free. The only thing I didn’t need right now was the seat pad. Everything else is exactly what I would’ve wanted.

It's been a busy week but I was finally able to write part 2 of my Micromobility America recap!
This one focuses less on groovy vehicles and more on the great conversations I had with people about their thoughts on micromobility and the future of transportation.

I go to downtown #Seattle to shop like 1000% more often now that I have an #ebike. Surefire way to revitalize downtown—get one to everyone who wants one. The bike lanes are already excellent. #biketooter#urbanism#cycling#pnw
Because I forgot to charge it overnight, I ended up having to ride my radrunner home 5 miles without battery in #seattle. Don’t recommend. It’s basically unrideable on hills that would require a level 5 assist (but I got a workout). #ebike#pnw#BikeTooter#cycling
After a few weeks of suffering with brake issues on my eBike, again, I think I have figured it out.
The first set of replacement brakes pads I installed where cheap. Note to self: don't do that again. I replaced them with Tektro Ceramics, cleaned everything, re-aligned the front and back and now it stops like it should, without the tiring, embarrassing, squeal.
Yay! I mended something!
Long way to the gym to end the week? Ab-so-fucking-lutely.
During WWII, Royal Enfield developed a bike for British army which was designed to be dropped with airborne troops with help of a parachute in an active war zone.
Weighing just 60kgs, bike had only 125cc; 2-stroke engine producing only 3.5 bhp.

There are currently about 3 million E-bikes in the Netherlands. The total yearly electricity consumption of these E-bikes is about equal to the annual power generated of one offshore wind turbine.
The number of E-bikes has increased significantly in recent years. Offshore wind turbines have become bigger as well. As a coincidence, the similarity is true for a number of years now.
I don't think I've posted a full pic yet of my #Yuba#Kombi with #Bafang#BBS02 750W mid-drive motor installed. It's got a 48V 12Ah battery from #UnitPowerPack installed (form factor: #Hailong G56). So far I've ridden 45mi and the battery is at roughly 50%, so I'm expecting a comfortable range of 65-70mi per charge. #BikeTooter#ebike
@BrentToderian I'm waiting for some commenter to chime in that e-assist is bad because it means the user doesn't get as much exercise. Someone always does. And (a) it's not true, but also (b) who cares????
@leighelse@BrentToderian I went through this process as well (though at a younger starting point). Biking was getting harder, the hills were getting steeper, and I found myself contemplating taking the car more and more frequently....until the day I test-rode an #EBike!
I installed the new BBS02 motor onto the Yuba Kombi last night without any problems. Where I did run into problems was getting the battery installed. The hailong G56 battery does fit in the frame, but afaict doesn't allow sliding out unless I drill some new holes right where the battery plugs into the base. I obviously don't want to start drilling until I'm 100% sure it'll work, but also there's no way to hold the base down and test the battery slide/release without using bolts. 🤷
Much drilling later, and the battery's installed where I originally wanted it. Taking it in and out is not easy, but there's a trick to it. But will I remember the trick?
I might cut off or file down those cable stops/guides at some point because they are what require the trick. #BikeTooter#Kombi#EBike
