I'm Emily (she/her), a 30something professional computer-toucher, although you probably won't catch me posting programming-related stuff here often. My main hobbies include #gaming (right now i'm playing #FFXVI, #FFXIV, #HonkaiStarRail, and #GenshinImpact in various amounts), #books (mainly #scifi and #fantasy), and #knitting & #crochet. Really I'm mostly here to vibe. I'm not exactly new to the Fediverse (I made a Mastodon account back when Elon bought the birdsite) but I am relatively new to actually trying to engage with it (and social media in general TBH, until now I've never been much of a poster!). It seems like a comfy place to hang out that the corporate places never were, so I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!
So I started playing Genshin Impact a few days ago, mainly due to a friend of mine being really hardcore about it and wanting to play with them a bit and have another game to play together.
Still only a few hours in, my adventure rank is currently 9 and I think it takes level 16 to unlock multiplayer. To this point, I'm actually kind of enjoying chilling out and exploring around for treasure chests and such.
The game is obviously really trying hard to get you to part with your cash especially with the whole gacha aspect of earning new characters through straight up gambling. It's a bit of a shock after last playing Phantasy Star Online 2 which was probably on the other extreme in terms of fairness where you essentially only paid to get some quality-of-life upgrades like more item storage.
It's pretty, it's large and there's a ton to explore, and since I have zero intent on ever dropping a dime on it, I'm quite happy with the experience of playing it so far.
For what it's worth, it also runs extremely well on the ROG Ally at the standard settings at 1080p, which is how I am playing it. I've heard that it can be a bit rough running on the Steam Deck, but can't say I've tried it there myself.

I also love programming as a hobby and I babble with retro-computing. I've got a particular fondness for 80s era computers, even though they're well before my time. There's just something fun about the unique and creative computer designs from that decade! I've got a Timex Sinclair 2068 that I especially love.
Some other things I like are PC gaming and TTRPGs. You'll often find me playing Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, or D&D 5th edition. I also love trying out indie games, so please tell me about your own!
My current passion project is ActivityPub Sharp - an attempt to build a static-typed implementation of ActivityPub with full support for spec-compliant and real-world federation. I also contribute to Letterbook with the hope of sparking a new generation of safer and more private fediverse software.

Dehya got a lot of hate, but I think folks expected her to be Ms Diluc, and she isn't (as much as I joke about #shipping the two along my friends). I've found several cases where she works great for me, especially
fighting the dendro cube. Dropping her pyro circle burns the sphere out of its hopping attack, and doing it again wipes out the ring of thorns, preventing the following explosion.

First he disappeard in an update before.. We searched for him.. Everything is highly mysterious.. And then it comes clear he fought (to kinda save fontain - I bet this was just his 2nd reason after all we know about him) .. and then he's being thrown around AND we decide to give his vision away? Even tho he promised to come back to us? And we didn't even got to see him ONCE after everything? groah 😤😭

We are doing Drawtober at the library and the theme was werewolf! I only had 40 minutes so I blanked out on what to draw and decided I'll just draw Wriosthesley bc he was the last thing I saw before I left the house. I did this with some alcohol based marker not copic or prismacolors. I'll get the name next session!
Power creep is a sensitive subject but especially in gacha games as people can potentially spend a lot of money to win a unit that is incredibly strong but can theoretically be phased out of relevancy with new units. However, I don’t think enough people realise that gameplay mechanics can force power creep more than developers purposely designing obsolescence.
#GenshinImpact has power creep (Kazuha > Sucrose) but it’s relatively flat. 5* > 4* but the 4* units can be amazing with investment.
