It was a good, spirited hockey game this morning, even if we only had 15 skaters, which is my least favorite number. I consider 16 skaters the bare minimum, as it means no one has to triple shift. After we went ahead 2-0, they scored 4 on me, mostly through screens but still were annoying, as they went 5-hole, which I feel like I should never give up. We got a late goal, but never tied them up. Still, a pretty good workout for the penultimate skate.
It looks like great weather again #today but I have some errands to run, so I am not sure I'll be able to take the #dogs for #walkies. It has become such a regular thing that they get all antsy come lunchtime, following me around and whining like I will forget. But I need to get more mulch and a few other things and I just don't have much extra time. Tonight, C & I will play #Gloomhaven but I need to get to bed early, so maybe just one room as usual.
Stuff I'll probably blog about at some point: The #Gloomhaven single player game, "Buttons and Bugs", Starship Simulator, a Star Trek "roll & write" pinball game, and more... I have too many blog posts to write.
Felt marginally better at hockey this morning. I think I at least played a little better than the #NHLBruins last night - ugh, what an ugly game. I was feeling pretty good until I gave up 3 quick goals. We did come back to win by one, so I can't complain. And I didn't think much about my knee and it doesn't seem to be affecting my play at all, at least physically. Still need to get more mentally sharp though. Amazing how much I lose when I miss a few skates.
Tonight, C and I will take on a room full of baddies in #Gloomhaven. We peeked before we quit last week and there are probably a dozen monsters in there. Perhaps we will finally find out what happens when your entire party gets wiped out! C, M, and I played Maracaibo on BGA and it didn't go over very well. We are now trying 3,000 Scoundrels, a new one from Corey Konieczka. It seems like it would be fun in person, or even online, but it loses a lot playing asynchronously. #boardgames@boardgames
So no hockey for me this morning. I pushed it a little too hard and now my left knee is swollen and sore. I guess a day of skiing, followed by two straight mornings of hockey are a bit too much for these ancient joints. Generally not a knee problem guy, but ever since I twisted it hiking in the Fells, it's more sensitive to overuse. Toss in a headache-filled Sunday and my weekend was kind of the pits. And yesterday was, well, a Monday.
#Today promises to be another grinder, although again a nice day, weather-wise. While my balky knee doesn't allow long-ranging hikes through the Fells, I hope to take the dogs out for a neighborhood stroll anyway. Despite the promised rain tomorrow, I really should take the #EV6 to the car wash. Birds have been abusing it lately. I also need to buy some beans. My monthly delivery of 5 lbs just doesn't quite make it the entire month, which is annoying. And then C & I will get back to #Gloomhaven.
😭 I've painted 43 #DarkestDungeon#minis so far but still have 75 to go. If I paint 3 a week every weekend between now and November, I'll finish just in time for Wave 2. Ignore the fact that I'm getting about 500 #Gloomhaven minis early 2025.
My wife and I finished #Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion, and now we're playing proper Gloomhaven for the first time. We 3D printed the figures for Bandits and Living Bones. Here's what they looked like while playing!
Side note: the first scenario for two people seems REALLY tough! I know we were both playing soft characters, but wow! I think the game might need some rebalancing for two people! I ended up switching to the Mindthief and had a better time.

Sharing some more #3dprinting results my wife and I made. We gave these some color washes to bring out details. We'll be using these figures as enemy replacements for Living Bones and Bandits in #Gloomhaven.

I've had a pretty good week of #ComputerGaming. Tuesdays are #Gloomhaven with C and, after 4 hours, we almost finished a 2 room dungeon. Not sure we'll even win! And then last night, 4 Guys Coop did finish Ch 4 of #SeriousSam 4, Gates of Hell, after 2 tries, even with 10 lives. So far it's fun but it's missing the crazy chaos of the wide-open levels of the earlier classics.
When I signed up for this, my hope was to find #likemindedLocalPeople and meeting them for a friendly #Boardgame of... preferably #Gloomhaven. If any experienced user can tell me if this is possible on #Mastodon or otherwise that I am totally wrong in my assumption, pls feel free to enlighten me! Thanks!
