A 10 mile, 6000 year bimble along the Cotswolds escarpment between Stroud and Dursley today. Three Neolithic long barrows, including the wondrous Hetty Pegler's Tump, a Bronze Age cairn and an Iron Age hillfort, with 4 hills (Tumps) thrown in for added exertion and heat.
This little chapel is one of the most complete Saxon churches surviving in England. It was built in 1056 so is pre-Norman. In the C17th it was incorporated into a farmhouse, because why wouldn't you?
No internal shots because it's not dramatic internally but if like me all your spidey senses start screaming in old bldgs then there's a lot to see.
Think about the destruction of this unique community treasure the next time some libertarian is glibly trying to persuade you that minimizing constraints on private property will maximize social welfare.

Chris Skidmore's resignation & upcoming by-election may be an opportunity for Lewisham Mayor Damien Egan. He has been selected for the newly established safe North East Bristol. This will absorb parts of Skidmore's Kingswood which is being abolished at the next General Election.
Labour will not have selected a candidate and the winner will only be in post for a few months.
Logical then to blood Damien in the by-election.

We boaters are a mixed bunch and were rather surprised to see the village roads closed for a week for resurfacing a few weeks ago because they were in good condition, unlike many of the other roads around and about.
Off to the Forest of Dean for today's #StandingStoneSunday offering; The Long Stone near Staunton.
It's right next to a busy road, but if you can block that out it's a really lovely, tapering 7 foot tall stone in a beautiful woodland setting. (Portrait, needs a click)
In folklore, if you prick the stone with a pin at the stroke of midnight, it will bleed.
No messing today. Just out and about in the upper Leadon valley. Four hours of the finest #Gloucestershire#landscape all to ourselves. Didn’t meet another soul! #GreenTherapy
We've three newly-registered #OnePlaceStudies to tell you about today!
