Updated #introduction to reflect job change... I’m a Greens member of the Legislative Assembly from Canberra, Australia. Here for progressive policy-making, environment, inequality issues. Also into roller derby and other sports. If I post lots about baking, I’m probably stressed. If I post lots about my dog, I’m probably happy.
In 2022 I joined Mastodon with my other account @sethpicturesmusic , but with help from other Mastodon metalheads I found this server, so I want to migrate 😄.
I saw someone do an #introduction for their cat, and thought I'd do the same.
I adopted Tennessee a year ago, when he was 13. His first 3 years were in a hoarding household, but he got rescued by Homeless Cat Network & adopted by a volunteer there. When she got too sick to care for him, she returned him to HCN where I found him. This photo was the one HCN posted. I wanted an older cat; we're a good match.
He was named (not by me) for the old cartoon Tennessee Tuxedo. #CatsOfMastodon
#Introduction I’m now #retired, after a career in accounting & IT mostly at HP (& then Agilent). After that, I spent 17 years as a professional organizer, helping people with their #clutter; I was also the #editor of a local magazine.
The Institute for Dissent and Datalove is a loose collective comprised of hackers, artists, activists and tinkerers. It overlaps with networks of solidarities involved in active defense of free speech and free/libre technologies, technology critics and political interventions.
The Institute for Dissent and Datalove has so far mostly been used for operations of de/re-contextualization of large datasets, de-formatting of formats and playful use of liberating algorithms.
It tries to criticize and deconstruct itself, while remaining grounded in uncompromising collective practices of autonomy and solidarity.
#introduction Hello everybody, I´m Ryohalt, making digital illustrations as a hobby. Working on a personal project right now and trying to complete the first Trails in the Sky.
In my spare time I like to browse the vast #NASA image archives to create #3D models and #animations like this one.
Back on #birdapp I really enjoyed connecting with engineers and scientists from around the world. I hope we can build an even better community over here!
I left that other place and hope to make some new friends here.
I live near Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, so if you like hiking, camping, mountains, and nature, maybe give me a follow. Onward to new horizons!
You might want to post an introduction using the #introduction hashtag.
Because Mastodon doesn't have an AI to push posts to people, people follow both hashtags and people, so their timelines have exactly what they are interested in reading.
I figured since I am new here I should do an #introduction.
I'm Tavi Stars, on most social media sites, Second Life, & Open Sims. I'm a disabled, artistic, & spiritually inclined gamer with a penchant for all things purple, kawaii, macabre, space-themed, & sparkly. My interests span philosophy, meditation, arts & crafts, listening to ASMR, signing along (horribly) to K-Pop, watching anime, K-Dramas, and BL shows, & the intricacies of Hindu, Norse & Egyptian cultures, among many other topics!

Hello Fosstodon, I migrated from Mastodon.technology.
I live in Milan, Italy, where I've always worked in astronomy & space outreach and education. I'll toot about these and my other tech interests and passions such as retrocomputing, Python, Assembly programming, Android and Google, coding, and more.
This is me at Kennedy Space Center on Apr 21, 2022. Behind, at pad 39A, is the Falcon 9 rocket that carried my astronaut friend Samantha Cristoforetti to space days later.
Okay let's start with an #introduction here. Hi, I'm Jackdaw, an indie (well mostly hobby) writer and poet, as well as a dad and husband, artist, crafter, bookkeeping nerd, perpetual student, practicing pagan, fantasy and romance reader, trans queer guy, anticapitalist and certified financial professional. I want to talk about books! And writing! And writing books!
I've been lurking for a while now but figured I would make an #introduction. You can call me ferret and I use she/her pronouns. I don't know how active I'll be because I'm pretty shy, but I decided to make an account because I've been trying other social medias since twitter was bought by musk and I decided to try out the fediverse after Cohost had their second big funding issue back in March. Currently my favorite anime are the show Bang Dream: It's MyGO and the movie Liz and the Blue Bird.
We are PeARS, a friendly project dedicated to the development of a fully open source and decentralised #Web#search#engine.
How does it work? Every instance of PeARS can be considered a mini search engine for a single topic of interest, which is populated and curated by people like you. One beautiful day, when enough instances are alive, they will come together to provide a generalised Web search solution. Owned by you.
Interested? Come and help us! Say hello here or on GitHub.
I'm a neuroscientist & software developer. I lead the Neuroinformatics Unit, a research software engineering group at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre and Gatsby Unit at UCL. We develop open source software for neuroscience and machine learning. We're currently working on flexible, modular and extensible pipelines for computational neuroanatomy, electrophysiology, video behavioural analysis and data management. Always happy to collaborate!
Coucou !
I'm elsewhere in the fediverse but need a space to be anonymous, for my complaints to be anonymous. So, here I am. And I brought my complaints with me. Feel free to swing by, BYOC (bring your own complaints).
I had to switch servers, so this is a good time for the #introduction I never posted a month ago when I joined Mastodon. The bird site was my online home for 13 yrs. The tusk site, it turns out, is better!
I grew up in Evanston, Illinois (near #Chicago). Now living in Buffalo Grove, Illinois (sort of near Chicago). Married to a woman I love. We have two boys, 8 & 10. I enjoy dad things, reading (or listening to) books, and learning. I might like building my kids' #Lego sets more than they do.
