Power rail probes are a handy #oscilloscope accessory, because they let you apply a voltage offset before the signal hits the scope. This allows you to look at ripple on low-impedance, highish-voltage power rails.
Ok, here's where my head is on the topic of an open vlogger's camera. I've designed a shell that will fit a variety of SBCs, sensor & lens combos, custom input systems, power sources, and rear display panels. The FreeCAD source file is to a large extent parametrically driven so that the shell can be rearranged for different dimensions without too much fuss. The idea is to take care of the fiddly camera bits and make it easily hackable for personal preferences. #mdc#openHardware#FreeCAD
Republicans in US congress pushing to prohibit work on some #OpenHardware / #OpenSource projects like #RISCV to try to keep / give USA an edge over China.
Also remember: Lots of US companies seems to include standard clauses in their contacts that forces their clients to follows US export laws. So this is not only a US problem, it’s a problem for everyone who rely on US companies.
Has anyone come across any information design research project/group/community which makes infographics of supply chains of the making/manufacturing behind really complex biomedical devices like MRI and drug manufacturing, testing equipments like spectrometers, chromatographs?
With the aim of documenting everything necessary in order to make #openhardware, #opensource alternatives to them?
Guys, gals, everyone, please consider either not posting on #Medium or at least cross-post it on places like your own blog or @writefreely , especially if you are writing about #OpenSource or #OpenHardware. There are plenty of instances that are available:
I am trying to organise a group of people working in academia (any career level, academic careers or technical) any that are working on #openhardware and affiliated with #uk institutions. If you are one, or if you know one, could you send me a message (or ask them to send me a message?)
The reason for the group is finding ways to work together and advocate for #openscience#hardware!
We're delighted to announce that @everythingopen#EverythingOpen, Australia's grassroots open source community conference, is being hosted in the beautiful #Gladstone, led by long-time community contributor @xrobau

#CfP will open 14 October 2023. Start thinking about what you would like to talk about, or see.

After all these years and recent new #handheldpc like the #ClockworkPi#DevTerm or #uConsole this litte embedded #Linux powered device is still the winner in comparison for me. Battery lasts more than twice as the other two, lighter, better to type on, faster in terms of real world usage b/c of bloated linux these days...
Thanks a lot @DragonBox for the awesome #openhardware#Pandora !
Had a blast doing some live listening/tuning/testing w Shortwave Collective for the 2023 Open Hardware Summit in NYC last night.
I was nestled between car bonnet, bins & bushes of North London with my DIY radio receiver + trusty pencil/razor diode combo at the helm… Attempting to use this beautiful old sign as my antenna…
I was going to get an #RPi#raspberrypi 5 but then I heard about the Sony deal and the #IPO and I think of all the people who've put hours and hours of their free time into a product which was (?is) #OpenHardware and how the directions of that product will now be subject to shareholder rather than user desires.
Sure, we need to think about sustainability in all things #OpenSource but what's the bet ARM or NVIDIA will buy it out to shutter it?
We need #openhardware with #bluetooth so we can link them it to #MyGNUHealth.
Currently we have @pine64eu smartwatch, but we'd love to integrate scales, glucometers, blood pressure monitors...
Just reply to this toot or send us a message if you know of any device. We'd love to test them!🤗 #GNU#GNUHealth#pinephone#PineTime
#righttorepair#rechtaufreparatur#openhardware
It's Alive!! The #openscience lab has moved in (well, almost everything) to its new home!! Interestingly we are occupying an almost abandoned corridor at #universityofsussex, with the goal of bringing needed updates and life to certain lab/#science/#research practices!
If you would like to chat anything open science do send me a message!
I am watching the "State of Open Source Hardware" keynote by Alicia Gibb of @oshwassociation. They mentioned in the keynote they are running a bot at @OSHWA_OSHW. Went to go check it out and am now its 25th follower...
