Listening to the Imaginary Worlds podcast about the truly astonishing number of #books being banned from #school and public #libraries in the US. About half of them are about people of colour of queer people. And I remember #reading Inger Edelfeldt's #gay coming of age novel "Duktig pojke" as a set text in middle school in the mid 80s. My teacher brought a box of that book into class as one of a few options. USA, you are a travesty.

One of the reasons for the invisibility of #AntiAsianRacism is inextricably connected to #ModelMinorityMyth. The myth focuses on #stereotypes of #Asians as hard-working, independent, intelligent & economically prosperous.
Stereotypes hide many issues & disappears the realities of working-class #AsianWomen’s lives.
When considering the audience, it’s no surprise that many within the #WhiteMajority of #NorthAmerica, lack the necessary #education when investing in the appropriation of #POC lifestyles.
I bring that up only because many #fascists / #WhiteSupremacists really love to recruit #POC & exploit them to try to show public - we ain't #racist because we have #BIPOC people who support us.
Guess what folks? POC with massive #InternalizedRacism & #InternalizedMisogyny are easily recruited/exploited by #bigots for evil purposes. It's not new. It's been happening for a long time. It goes back to #colonialism & #imperialism divide/conquer tactics of Indigenous peoples genocides, globally.

There's some diaspora #Asians on Vancouver Island (and several other places in Global North) who have severe #InternalizedRacism, to the point that they're not just #indoctrinated into #colonialism & capitalism but they're so self unaware of internalized racism that they don't even know when racist white folks #tokenize them to defend/justify racism & use them to push WS beliefs on their own peoples.

Here's the thing: It's my #POC community & as I'm a part of that, some of my #responsibilities is to address it within that community. It's not #WhiteFolks' jobs to do that - calling out/calling in/educating #diaspora Asian folks suffering from #InternalizedRacism & hurting fellow #Asians.
Just like it's not POC's jobs to deal with white #racists - it's the responsibilities of white folks to deal with problematic bigots in their own communities.
Here's the other thing: Colonial governments love exploiting #IdentityPolitics. They benefit from #BIPOC folks who suffer from #InternalizedRacism. It's part of the #DivideAndConquer colonialism playbooks. They provide extra rewards to #POC people who are willing to #whitewash & defend almost anything, to non-white folks willing to sell their souls & willing to enact harms on their own peoples. They depend on both #greed & #desperation to exploit BIPOC with internalized racism issues.
A critical vulnerability, identified as CVE-2024-20356, has been found in Cisco's Integrated Management Controller (IMC). This flaw allows for command injection, potentially giving attackers the ability to gain root access to systems. The vulnerability is located in the web-based management interface of the IMC, which is used for remotely managing Cisco hardware. The issue arises from insufficient user input validation in the IMC interface, allowing an authenticated, remote attacker with administrative privileges to inject malicious commands.
Security researchers from Nettitude have developed a Proof of Concept (PoC) exploit, named "CISCown," to demonstrate this vulnerability. The exploit involves sending crafted commands through the web interface, enabling attackers to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on the underlying operating system of Cisco hardware. This PoC exploit is part of a toolkit developed by Nettitude and is available on GitHub. It uses parameters such as target IP, username, and password to automate the exploitation process and deploy a telnetd root shell service on compromised devices.
The release of this PoC exploit signifies a critical threat level for organizations using affected Cisco products. Gaining root access can lead to data theft, system downtime, and further network compromise. Cisco has responded by releasing software updates to address this vulnerability. It is strongly recommended that all affected organizations apply these updates immediately, as no known workaround mitigates this vulnerability.
The affected products include a range of Cisco servers and computing systems, such as the 5000 Series Enterprise Network Compute Systems (ENCS), Catalyst 8300 Series Edge uCPE, UCS C-Series M5, M6, and M7 Rack Servers in standalone mode, UCS E-Series Servers, and UCS S-Series Storage Servers. Users and administrators are advised to visit Cisco’s official security advisory page and the Nettitude GitHub repository hosting the exploitation toolkit for more detailed information and access to the updates.

I joke that I'm gay and homophobic but I really have no place in (usa) "queer community" of any sort and no desire to associate with it as a social concept despite basically only talking to trans ppl from other countries (mostly brazil) and one autistic japanese guy. I really dislike and have no relationship to any common usa "queer experience" which basically has nothing to do with me (or a lot of poc/disabled ppl/SWers) and I actively spite the superficial and sanitized solidarity without loyalty.
as my special bnuuy said, "you don't have to like someone to do right by them." a lot of ppl in the queer communities I've been in instead of understanding this choose to form cliques and shutter out anyone they dislike for any reason.
