Wind resistance: can overcome opposition to get its green energy plan back on track? - https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2024/apr/05/new-colonialism-colombia-green-energy-windfarms-resistance-indigenous-wayuu "In the state of La Guajira, ambitious plans to transition to renewables are beset by bureaucratic delays and anger from many local Indigenous people, who see it as ‘new colonialism’"

It's Tuesday April 9th, and I'm delighted to report that today, 88% of electricity on the Spanish grid is coming from emissions-free sources (solar, wind, nuclear, hydro, etc.)

Další slunný jarní den a další rekord.

Of the trillions invested in Japan's "green transformation" agenda, some will go into hydrogen, ammonia and coal co-firing instead of into transitioning away from fossil fuels. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/commentary/2024/04/07/japan/green-transformation-gx-japan-fossil-fuels/ #commentary #japan #climatechange #renewables #wind #solar #carbon #greenbonds #energy #investments #hydrogen #ammonia #coal #parisagreement

100% renewable isn’t possible? Here's a list of 10 countries that are already at 100% renewables or close. There are 20 countries with over 90% . There are 33 countries with over 80%. Therer are 62 countries over 60%.

It is possible!

Premiere Danielle Smith is blaming the rolling blackouts Alberta is currently experiencing on...sit down for this...renewable energy.

Because the limitless energy of the Sun, and the weight of the entire atmosphere of the planet as it moves across the plains, are somehow going around Alberta and they can't use them...I guess...because...Trudeau, I guess?

It's just stupid all the way down.

Good news:

"US experienced staggering growth in solar & wind power over the last decade. Nearly a 1/4 of the nation's grid now runs on , bringing the country closer to its climate goals.

Coal power has declined sharply, & the use of methane to generate electricity has all but leveled off. With the IRA poised to kick that growth curve higher with expanded tax credits for MANU & installing photovoltaic panels & wind turbines-."

plans to be coal-free by 2024, 6 years earlier than originally planned

Slovakia stopped production at its last coal-fired power plant this week. Its electricity will now come almost entirely from and sources. The Vojany power station, located in the Michalovce district in eastern Slovakia, opened in 1966. Slovenské elektrárne, the company that owns the plant, announced that all of the electricity generated in the Eastern European country will be free of direct CO2 as of June 2024.

These findings haven’t stopped opponents of renewable energy projects and fossil fuel front groups from spreading misinformation about the whale deaths as part of their work to obstruct clean energy projects.
