Tip of the day: Our Earth is struck by lightning eight million times per day and the power of a single strike can shut down electricity for a house, a neighborhood, or more. But there are also other potential causes of power outages, outages that can lead to data loss. Hereā€™s one way to try and minimize potential losses of your data. https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20220503-protecting-data-ups

I took this picture while passing through a parking lot on my lunch today. This is a severe workplace OSHA infraction. This worker is not wearing any fall protection. He was the only person working on this structure at the time of this photo (there were two workers in the parking lot on a lunch break.)
He appeared to be installing some metal flashing along the edge.

In the photo you can see how extremely dangerous his situation is if...

  1. you have an idea how wide an I-beam is, and
  2. you can see that his right foot is at the very edge of the upright beam - it's only as wide as his shoe.
  3. one miss-step, a gust of wind, a distraction, slipping or losing balance while installing material, etc., and he falls to his death.*
  4. you know that falling from a height of 4ft or more, can cause serious injury and even death.

*Falls is the #1 work-related injury in the U.S. according to OSHA.

@ProPublica Just watched ā€œDarkWatersā€ about West Va and how DuPont poisoned waters. But it didnā€™t end! Coal waste, fracking etc. caused locals to shut down wells and use bottled water. But many still use their wells, animals drink from polluted streams and WV residents still die from high rates of cancer and heart disease. I witnessed my long time friend die of lung cancer. He loved WV and refused to leave. A beautiful place destroyed by man!

Between the chemical companies and the fossil fuel companies, we are going to have to build a bunch of new prisons to incarcerate all these murderers. How many have died over the decades? It will be impossible to calculate. Those who knew must be prosecuted.

Should police officers be deployed in schools for safety?
Are the children safe?

Some U.S. school districts that removed police officers in the wake of George Floydā€™s death in 2020 are rethinking what safety experts called a ā€œknee-jerk reactionā€ as fights and incidents with guns that endanger students spark concern.
