Over the past few weeks I’ve come across little reminders of the 15yrs-ish long Buddhist practice and spiritual walk I once had.
It’s been kind of….
sigh
It's brought back some fond memories.
Along with those little reminders, the recent, violent storm we experienced here in the Houston area was a big reminder. And then today, I had an appointment with my liver doctor. They have all reminded me of some of the teachings in which I tried to live my life.
And while I somewhat remember most of those I studied …
impermanence,
compassion for others and one's self,
connectedness and oneness, etc. I haven’t kept them at the forefront of my mind for nearly ten years?... twelve? I mean, I aspire to be a good person but I miss the mark daily. I am trying though. (see my pinned post)
Not sure why I’m posting this.
Maybe I needed the reminder. Maybe it's a nudge to begin a mindful, intentional practice again.
@WrenArcher I sometimes think about putting more time and energy back into Zen as I used to practice semi-regularly too. It's something I put aside for a lot of reasons, but I keep wondering if it would do me some good to reconnect with that since it's one of the few religious spaces I felt more at home in.
If nothing else, the lessons of impermanence and compassion are good to place back at the front of our minds. Thanks for the nudge 💜
Let Them...The idea behind this way of thinking is that negative people are going to do what they are going to do, so you can take back your power by letting them. You don't need to use your precious energy to fight their negativity.
Join me in Episode 14 of the Spiritual But Not Religious podcast, where we delve into "Wake Up Call" by Tom Rapsas. Drawing from the wisdom of spiritual luminaries like Thomas Merton, Eckhart Tolle, and the Dalai Lama, Tom invites us to contemplate profound questions about existence, purpose, and the nature of divinity itself. #SpiritualBNR#Spirituality#SBNR#Books#AmReading#Podcast
Took a research survey looking into effectiveness of #ACPE Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy ( #SIP) training.
I am looking forward to the training.
I'm peeved about the survey. They can't list every religion in the world, but with Neo-Pagan religions being the fastest growing cluster of religions in the USA, do better than sticking us in "OTHER"! Limits the research effectiveness & hides us.
Emboldened by the fascist Ky GOP imposing their religious beliefs on women and LGBTQ folks, now magats are harassing businesses of people who follow different spiritual paths.
This was never going to end with abortion and trans people - you know that, right?
They intend to eliminate anyone and everyone who will not bow to their disgusting cult. Today it's crystals and nature religions. Tomorrow it's Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Sufis, and Judaism.
These nutjobs don't care about constitutional rights and are fine with using police state violence to enforce their cult's backward and barbaric beliefs. And if that doesn't work, they're fine with murder, arson, and assault.

This all seems a bit nutty, a bit of a one-off. Until, suddenly, it’s not. The momentum behind things like this is growing, and growing fast.
I would not be surprised (sadly) if the next push of the Overton window introduces overt, mandatory, public displays of fealty, like the Hitler greeting (“Sieg heil!”) in post-Weimar Germany. And severe penalties for anyone who doesn’t toe the line.
