Texas Bill to Increase Transparency in Public Records Law Left in Limbo Despite Passing Legislature

lawmakers passed more than 1,300 bills before the end of this year’s contentious legislative session, quickly sending them to Gov. for consideration.

All of them but one.

A bill that would close a long-standing loophole in state law that allows officials to withhold law enforcement records if no one was convicted in a case.

I just started using GitHub CoPilot for VSCode, and.. wow. This basically does 50-80% of the scut work, meaning I can crank stuff out 2-5x faster and focus on the higher level stuff and not spend time thinking about "did I remember to handle error X when. grab a web page." Also, it'll reduce the amount of typing, which is good for avoiding RSI. At $19/month/user for a team, the ROI on this is like... 20-30 minutes?

Indeed. I'm 100% in favor of AI helping us think better. But personally I wouldn't get into a self driving car trained to give me a thrill ride. Fortunately most self-driving car companies are grounded in reality. Copilot is not. YouChat and perplexity.ai are grounded. Google and ChatGPT are not (I haven't researched BingChat). For self-driving tech I prefer Comma.ai for my car, is important.

Maxim Healthcare and SuperCare lawsuits.

DataBreaches looks for provisions in settlements that require improved data security. Some settlements do not seem to include much provision for that. And some keep those provisions confidential. In these two cases, one kept it confidential but the other one spelled out changes.

Would love to see some lawyers go through all the settlements involving patient data and see how much improvement in data protection is being written into settlements to reduce risk of future attacks.
