This is self-destruction on steroids, isn't it?

"My view is we should max out the opportunities that we have here in the North Sea, because that’s good for our energy security." - Sunak

Max out the opportunities = maximum short-term profit, minimum concern for our future. Very on brand.

Chris Packham on Sky News:
""It's a lie" that the UK is on track to hit net zero targets. I can tell you it's a lie because I've read the [govt's own] report which says we're meeting none of those targets. And by burning more fossil fuel we're pushing them further beyond reach."

Greenseer,

@fkamiah17 Which reminded me of this nugget. Even IF the whole world kept its climate pledges & met their targets to cut emissions, we'd be on track for a disastrous 3C of warming. So, we aren't going to keep the promises that are themselves pathetically inadequate. Totally fucked anyone? https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/nov/03/world-on-track-for-3c-of-warming-under-current-global-climate-pledges-warns-un

The UK Conservative government thrashing about trying to attack other progressive causes because they have no way to fix the economy or refugee crisis due to Brexit, has put the environment in the firing line.

This is bad for everyone. We all share the environment.

The level of fuckwittery to expand oil drilling in the North Sea during the hottest year experienced by humanity in all its existence is off the charts. Tories are absolute shitbags.

Apologies for linking to a paywalled site, but:

"Delivery of nuclear reactors to power a new fleet of Trident submarines on the Clyde has been branded as “unachievable” for the second year running by a UK Government watchdog.

The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) has given a £3.7 billion reactor-building project run by Rolls Royce for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) a “red” rating for 2022-23"

Oh, you mean the Liberal Government of 1906? 🤔 Or the Conservative-led coalition in 2010? 😆

Pretty sure the third party in the UK for this century is the SNP 😏

Why does Nigel Farage hold such power over our country?

Why does the media keep putting him on a pedestal?

He has never been an MP. He's, in my view, an extremist loudmouth. So why does he get such attention?

This just shows that the criminal justice system is broken.

Standing outside a court holding up a sign that states a fact is neither perverting the course of justice, nor contempt of court.

It is free speech, a protected right.

If stating a fact in a public place can be illegal, then we have no actual justice in the UK. Only corrupt power ruling absolutely.

Labour has voted down the GreensNZ member's bill to end mining on conservation land & keep coal in the ground.

In a climate emergency.

The only thing you can count on the Labour Party is being utterly disappointing.

This was just another campaign promise they broke.

Funny how when they promise no CGT or No Wealth Tax, they manage to keep those.

Labour are just Tories with another name.

A reminder that there would have been no "cost of living" crisis if our government had acted decades ago to transition away from and decarbonise UK society.

The cost of not doing this increases every single second. Every delay adds more and more to the price.

The corruption and ineptitude of successive Labour and Tory governments is the reason so many of us are still reliant on gas.

These incompetents are costing us all £ trillions.

Get rid of the gas.

If lost the election on then there is definitely something to debate.
The subject of the debate is not whether to water down the pitch to voters. Although it is the hottest year on record UK weather has been pretty crap. Politicians need to understand and explain that we won't be OK in the future. We will be impacted by on food, extreme weather, security, imports & everything else
