There are two kinds of dogs, the one who is so excited it can absolutely not sit still for a picture, and the one that will get up, and and move to their favorite blanket to pose politely for you:

The black and white dog moved over to a bright blue blanket and is posing like I'm about to paint it's portrait

Hello ~ FINALLY coming out of a months-long funk involving COVID, RSV, long hospital stays, and ginormous sleep, eg 15 hours a night... Yikes!

Back at this shawl, .

So far, easy-ish with 3 pattern bands - mingling daisies, open lattice, broken rib. Will probably add extra band of all 3, for more length in back.

In Anzula Lana, a dreamy merino-silk-yak blend.

OMG.
Bought a new pattern because I so hope I will be able to knit it... (and huge discount for all in Jennifer Beale her store ending today...)

Steeks, all-over colourwork... New adventures ahead!!

I think the surprise wool I got in grey and black will work well, will get some of the same yarn as accent colours and then... let's see if I dare!! (Now only to finish my current sweater... and some other projects 😉 )

I knitted!!! Omg I'm so excited! It's taken me about 3 or 4 hours and wow was casting off nerve-wracking! But I did it!

Does it get less painful as you get better at it? Or should I just wear a glove and a thimble?

The Bramwell Shawl by Dee O'Keefe. Needed something squishy for this yarn, which is heavily threaded with a sparkle thread. It is soft as can be, this yarn - Nashua Handknits Grand Opera. The sparkly stuff is seen but not felt, at all. Discontinued, worth getting!

where have you traveled for yarn? In 2021 I timed my annual WI trip for Wisconsin Sheep and Wool. @Pufferfish and I had an amazing haul. So fun to walk around and see all the vendors plus watch the sheepdog trials. @knitting @fiberarts (remove groups in reply)

where have you traveled for yarn? Whenever I go to a place I seek out the yarn store (obviously). But in 2023 after a work trip to Seattle I spent a night on Bainbridge Island mostly to hit up two yarn stores - La Mercerie and The Lamb and Kid. I bought so much yarn, some of which i had shipped, so this is only part of the haul. @knitting (remove group in reply)

Strawberry test knit in progress! 🍓

I did have to go ahead and make my own beading tool out of fishing line after I couldn't find my beloved "bead aid," but after putting two beads on with a crochet hook I remembered why I don't use that method any more. Thankfully I did not have to do it 30 times.

@knitting

The same strawberry in the process of being knit. I've stuck a folded piece of fishing line into the loop where I intend to place a bead, and the next step would be to put a bead over the two ends of the line and use it to pull the loop of yarn through the centre of the bead.

Holy f*@k - I did a Thing!
I inherited a part ball of variegated yarn - which I dislike using because I feel it's disorganized, chaotic and messy looking. But I've seen this thing done online and decided to spend a day screwing around and tried it. It bloody worked. (Eventually) I'm amazed. A combination of programming and sorcery.

A small panel of crochet made with green, yellow and white variegated yarn, but it is organized into an argyle pattern. The technique is called colour pooling.

🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀Here I am folks, coming back from THE EDGE. Day 14 in hospital.

Sitting up at last in wheelchair with an "inspiration apple." Something a bit banged up, but with a lovely ripe scent that brings life into this sterile, quarantined hospital room.

Turning the bend. That was a close one, folks.

A moment of appreciation for the colour palette of my book and my knitting matching so nicely.

Also, @KarenStrickholm 's post reminded me: I learned to knit from a Klutz book in the car with friends on the way too/from the Very Large Array back when I lived in Albuquerque a bit more than a decade ago. There's a large cell phone/radio dead spot around the array so we had many hours in the car where all we could do was talk and I knit and reknit the same ball of yarn over and over again until my hands and brain finally clicked.

@knitting

KarenStrickholm,
@KarenStrickholm@mastodon.online avatar

The prompt is for how we got started in stuff... I believe we have @njeanneburns to thank for this? Thank you! Well here goes...

I came from the loins of a very not-crafty mother, so much of what I learned in the way of handicrafts was from those little kits they made for kids, and from Girl Scouts. We also had a set of fun books called Child Crafts that my siblings and I used to tap a lot...

I... might frog my shrug and start over. I made a few mistakes with it near the beginning, and have screwed up a bit this last row.

The yarn is spendy enough, I think it's worth it. I'm worth a garment that doesn't have a bunch of mistakes.

4 am in the ER, still awake but now at least put in a slightly more comfortable bed. Awaiting transfer to room as I've been admitted, but that won't happen until tomorrow (later today) sometime.Awaiting CPAP so I have a shot at falling asleep for a few hours. Still struggling to breath but not as bad. Lordy.
