What are US student protesters demanding?

The protesters are calling for universities to divest from corporations that profit from Israel’s war on Gaza.
They are also demanding that universities severe academic ties and collaborations with Israeli universities and programmes.
Demonstrators want an end to US military aid to Israel. Washington provides more than $3bn annually in military aid to Israel.
They are calling for more financial transparency about university investments.

@appassionato @palestine

The military aid issue is tied to a much larger worldwide challenge; the proliferation of weapons of war for profit across the globe. Gaza is a symptom of a gathering, thundering cloud.

This must cease to avoid another world war, which in this day in age will outdo Gaza by orders of magnitude and threaten the continuation of the human race.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were previews. The leadership of nations must come together to address the threat.

How Much is Enough? Money and the Good Life by Robert Skidelsky, 2012

What constitutes the good life? What is the true value of money? Why do we work such long hours merely to acquire greater wealth? These are some of the questions that many asked themselves when the financial system crashed in 2008. This book tackles such questions head-on.

Lately, I have read a lot of people complain that people did not care about .

I believe this statement to be wrong, I think most people care but they do not see how their actions could make a difference.

We have proven that we could reach out to people about the because people care.

Now there is a question I would like to ask all of you: Do you remember what or who got you interested in composting? What made you care for it?

Why Social Network To Promote Your Small Business?

"SMALLTOFEDS" By Ken Larson "Personal, professional and business branding is occurring regularly, whether or not we are aware of it. From our web site presence to our postings on the sites of others, from our credit ratings to our cell phone records and application navigation, we are tracking others and being tracked ourselves. Deciding to become active in social networking is really a matter of managing personal,…

Woodpecker Watch: A Rooftop Reverie

This is a red bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus), I took the photo some time ago. I been debating whether to use it, or not. The woodpecker was on the edge of the roof of a small, red barn shaped, shed that I have in my back yard.

Blue Jay’s Bounty

This blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) was a long way off when I took this picture, yesterday. I cropped this photo way in, so this is 50.6 MP starting to pay off but not perfectly. The biggest problem here was noise. I haven't seen a blue jay in a while, they are not coming to the bird feeders right now. This jay has two acorns in its beak.

"Blue Jays lower their crests when they are feeding peacefully with family and flock members or tending to nestlings." - allaboutbirds.org

Smalltofeds,
@Smalltofeds@mastodon.social avatar

@Swede1952

They love peanuts. I have never seen a bird in the wild that is so carried away about carrying away peanuts.

This one and his fronds wait every day for me at a natural feeding station. He has a repertoire of 3 other bird song species that is total mimicry.

Billionaire wealth isn't a sign of a healthy society. It's a symptom of rot. The accumulation of wealth in the hands of the few while millions struggle is an imbalance that demands attention, not admiration.

Current events and history itself tells us two important outcomes of the condition you have cited:

  1. When governments and weapons makers treasure the economic windfalls in collective military industrial technology and refuse to negotiate, then political and military values on both sides of a world conflict collide.

Soldiers and civilians then die.

  1. Continuation of the economic disparate imbalance eventually results in revolution.

Blue Jay

Here is a photo of a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) that I took in October 2023. I haven't seen any of these birds in a few weeks, I know that they are still around though. Perhaps they are deeper in the forest. My guess I'll see them more when it starts getting really cold, especially it snows. Yes, it occasionally snows in Louisiana.

"The oldest known wild, banded Blue Jay was at least 26 years, 11 months old when it was found dead after being caught in fishing gear. It had been banded in the Newfoundland/Labrador/St. Pierre et Miquelon area in 1989 and was found there in 2016." - allaboutbirds.org

Why do these birds have such a ravenous appetite for peanuts?

Swede1952, to ilaughed

The exit is that way!

I thought that this chipping sparrow pose was interesting. Unfortunately, it was almost dark outside so there was very much noise in the photograph.

There was another sparrow to the right that I wanted to include in the picture but because the noise was so bad, its head just kind of blended with the bird seed behind it and any AI I employed just made it worse. The missing sparrow had its beak wide open as if squawking something in protest.
