This is a photo from 1974 when the first extensive collection of Terracotta warriors was first discovered in Xi"an, Shaanxi, Chinaโ€ฆ

The photo is remarkable because it reveals the original bright colours that were painted onto these life-size clay warriors more than 2,000 years ago by skilled artisans.

Unfortunately, when they were exposed to air and sunlight during the excavation, the colours began to curl up almost immediately and disappeared within minutes.

"It took me years to realize that Inca and pre-Columbian architecture is directly related to the structure of the corn kernels. In a western model of thought, one might judge the shapes as irregular, but in a universal thought, everything is a correlation between the cosmos, science, art and humanity."

As you can see, the organic growth forms are represented in a logarithmic way, and the fact that these pentagonal, hexagonal and heptagonal blocks coincide with the corn forms.

Shambles, an old street in York, England; and one of best-preserved Medieval Shopping Streets in Europe. With its cobbled streets and overhanging timber-framed buildings, some dating back as far as 14th Century AD.

Today, beautiful old buildings have been restored and now house cheerful cafรฉs, quirky boutiques and even a coin & stamp dealer and smells are rather more pleasant with aromas from chocolate, fudge and sweet shops, clothes, accessories and gift shops.

Eschif in Pรฉrigueux, France was a lookout for a toll bridge. It's an oak timber frame building with wattle & daub infill built in 1347 CE. Built that long ago and still standing and survived both world wars.

A lookout post that made it possible to guard Tournepiche bridge in Middle Ages. In middle ages, taxes on buildings were levied on soil surface occupied by a building. This explain why lot of buildings were narrow based like this one for example with broader upper levels.

In 2014, archeologists unearth 2200 year-old mosaics in an ancient Greek city named Zeugma in Gaziantep Province, Tรผrkiye.

Three new mosaics have been discovered, dated 2nd Century BC, but incredibly well-preserved and look as beautiful and stunning as the first day. These mosaics depict scenes from Greek and Greco-Roman mythologies. All mosaics are constructed of colored glass and served as floors of a building that archaeologists have dubbed House of Muses.

A 4500 year old Egyptian dress that was painstakingly reassembled from 7000 beads which were found in an undisturbed tomb (G7442, Shaft Z), at Giza and not put together for more than 60 years after it was discovered in 1927.

Dress is thought to have belonged to a female contemporary of King Khufu (2589โ€“2566 BC). Original strings had disintegrated over years but beads were still in their original position, which allowed for an accurate reconstruction.
