you are fun but not always an easy friend to get along with.

So the better way of knowing how much space you have already used and still available turns out to be:
sudo btrfs filesystem usage -T -h /mnt/point

I knew df -h was mostly useless on btrfs filesystems, but didn't realise you were better off using something different than sudo btrfs filesystem df -h

It is a physical struggle not to close the tab or throw the book in the trash when you're trying to actually learn something and the introductory paragraphs make sure to throw in an aside from some desk-moistener at Deloitte or Gartner saying oh by the way we project that this will conjure a quadrillion dollars from the ether by this time next year, end every other field of human endeavor, and if you're not ready to shave a sliver of it off for yourself you're going to die starving in the road.

    Okay, question for the and :

    What is social media for? Both as you see it in general and for you. Why are you on here? Why are you / aren’t you on other social media platforms?

    Thank you all!

    axx,
    @axx@mstdn.fr avatar

    @mariyadelano i still like the now delightfully quaint idea that it's microblogging, not "social media". You have something to say that you think is of value, but it's decidedly too short to be a blog post, so you take it to identi.ca, twitter or (now) mastodon. You might get answers and that's cool, just like you'd get comments on your post. Even if your posting something unimportant, you'd do it with the idea that it resonates with some small community of people

    @Migueldeicaza @carnage4life Dunno, I find it kind of offensive considering the misunderstanding of what IQ is (and isn't) and the baby-with-the-bathwater approach to "web3".

    I have a problem with the whole "Zuckerberg/Meta are playing 16 dimensional chess with Threads" narrative. Like those are the people who lit more than 20 billion USD on fire for Metaverse. They aren't the geniuses they want you to believe they are.

    axx,
    @axx@mstdn.fr avatar

    @tante Quite right. They are bumbling along. Two things they are very good at however: convincing outside money they know what they are doing, and drafting boilerplate excuses for their next, unavoidable scandal.

    looking for some new TV show recs. what i recently enjoyed: Silo, Elementary, X-Files, ST: SNW, Expanse rewatch (still ongoing), Picard. A bit further ago: Better Call Saul, Killing Eve, ST: Disco, DS9. was thinking about succession, but superficially the cast doesn't look very diverse

    People (esp. people in media) treat Zucks and Elons and Dorseys and Altmans like some gods among men, tech geniuses whose actions we can merely admire in absolute awe, but never dream to understand, let alone dare to criticize.

    When in fact they're just used tech salesmen — how much of their tech is just re-packaged FLOSS? — with a budget for lawyers, marketing, and lobbying.

    When I do "CtrlOrCmd+W", the proper behavior is to focus:

    ✅ Always the tab to the left

    Wow, , that's an absolute shitshow of a " consent screen." 🤦‍♀️

    It seems designed specifically to trick people to consent to things they might not want to. 👀

    Settings in "User Consent" tab are "off", but there is a "Legitimate Interest" tab with the same settings turned on? The "User Consent" tab is displayed by default. It's easy for someone to think "oh, that's off, good" and hit "Save & Exit." 🙄
