1924: an man hunts a deer on treaty-reserved land. Gets criminally convicted.

The ruling said tribal nations are not sovereign or independent, "the Indians being mere occupants of the land.”

The hunter died decades ago. The family member who continued his case died in 2007. But a tribal attorney kept pushing to get the unjust, demeaning conviction reversed.

On Thursday, nearly a century later, the state Supreme Court admitted it was wrong.

Google search thinks you should use glue to stick together a pizza as its AI is trained on Reddit, where 11 years ago a user called “fucksmith” posted suggesting it was a good idea.

legally speaking, I wonder what gives people the right to put their hands on someone who is interrupting an event as part of a protest. They always do it and I don't know that anyone ever raises this question.

In most situations, putting your hands on someone is a legal line that you need some kind of reason to cross, like imminent physical harm. Not someone holding a sign and yelling.

Launch a shit product and try to cash out to the tune of a billion. Da fuq.

'The wearable startup Humane, makers of the bizarre Humane AI Pin, is already looking for the exit. Bloomberg reports the company is seeking a sale after its first and only product launch was a big flop. Despite seemingly having nothing else in the pipeline and the AI Pin being dead on arrival, Bloomberg reports the company is "seeking a price of between $750 million and $1 billion in a sale."'

"AI companies are worried that they're going to run out of data to train their LLMs and energy to power their data centers. This is a strange way to discuss a fundamental design flaw. It's not some quirk or fluke that a product is constrained by reality, but the core of all engineering and science, though this is considered so self-evident that it normally remains unsaid."

Big fan of this: smart curtains company Slide is shutting down, but they offer one last update which enables its consumers to keep their curtains running through a local API. Great solution for an increasingly prevalent situation in which consumers are left with IoT devices that no longer function because the manufacturer stops existing (see VanMoof, Gigaset, and more).
