@Wen@quixoticgeek another horrorstory on #insects
Usually this means the story teller wants attention for his story, not that #insects are harm full. They are just nature
@quixoticgeek@Wen this species is invasive and yes also its spread is an effect of #climatechange
But as usual the harmfulness is very limited. And honeybees in hives are not native but a human culture thing being wiped out probably mostly by insecticides used by intensive #agriculture.
There are a few really harmful invasie species, but this is not one of them.
"Deze problemen spelen vooral in woonwijken die voor de jaren tachtig zijn gebouwd. Maar ook in dorpen en buitengebieden is het een probleem. Op die plekken is het stroomnet nog niet berekend op het hogere energieverbruik en de opwek van deze tijd."
This whole time there was a native Linux desktop GUI Seafile client..?
I guess I never looked for it. Just kept using the web interface. Which was quite tedious because there was no range-select. I had to just sit there and tick each little box or else select all of them.
Of course, now my android Seafile client has stopped working. Some kind of cosmic balance, perhaps?

I have a theory that the men who reply to posts with some version of "not all men" do so because they see some of themselves in whatever statement was made and they don't like it.
People: "Machine learning needs to be entirely local and controlled by the user, not done in the cloud!”
Microsoft: “Here's a machine learning system that's entirely local and controllable by the user”
People: "Not like that".
(Snarky comment, but a serious point: machine learning should be local, not cloud based, and it should be controllable by the user. This can be useful tech. Do I trust MS to do it “well enough”? Nope. Is it still a step forward that it can be done? Yep.)
@YorksBylines@anuckols When viewing such impacts of #climatechange I am convinced we can't reduce CO2 fast enough. Therefore I wrote a blog on how we should start a path toward stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) yesterday.
SAI can cool the earth in 2 years and keep temperature steady even if CO2 keeps rising.

With #H5N1#birdflu spreading amongst dairy cows, one of the most important things to think about right now is what would need to happen for this virus to actually start a pandemic.
I'm on a train, so a brief thread...
In the most glorious "fuck you" I have seen in a while, you know the book that Cumberland City Council banned because they're homophobic bigots - Holly Duhig's "A focus on Same Sex Parents"? Well, the publisher, BookLife Publishing, have made a PDF version of the book available for free.
Sure be a shame if it was shared far and wide now, wouldn't it?
Every time you ban a book filled with hope and kindness, and care and love, we will resist.
@osma@davep And the ecosysytems collapse is happening right now as well. My blog describes how SAI can cool the earth in 2 years and keep temperature steady even if CO2 keeps rising. We still need to slash CO2, but slow er and avoiding collapse
Risks are many times smaller than impact #climatechange and manageable

I'm grieving for Stack Exchange. It's been such a good concept. I've learned a lot there. I've enjoyed contributing. "Let's build upon each other's knowledge and find the best answers, collaboratively" is such a great premise.
Well, not anymore. "AI" has to eat everything.
We've been, or are in the process of, losing so many good things lately, for different reasons. Twitter, Reddit, GitHub, Raspberry Pi, search engines, streaming services … capitalism is enshittifying everything.
@scy@trekkie3k stackexchange as long as I know has been an abusive agressive site. And now it gets worse.
