Normally when we post patents, they're late 19th/early 20th century objects for interfacing with vaginas.

This is neither, but we're going to tell you about it anyway.

This is the Apparatus For Facilitating The Birth Of A Child By Centrifugal Force, patented in 1965.

The first research study testing the absorbent qualities of menstrual products with actual blood was published... last week.

Literally, last week. Previous testing tended to use liquids such as saline or water.

Let's take a look and see what they found...

A hundred years ago, there was a research centre, archive, clinic and museum space dedicated to sexuality. It researched and provided birth control advice, gynaecological services, and trans healthcare as well as doing advocacy work. Its work might seem ahead of its time, even now.

This is the story of Magnus Hirschfeld's Institute of Sexology

We're locked out of our instagram, for real this time. The reason? We questioned their moderation standards in censoring pubic hair in art.

We're seeing more and more accounts on other social media platforms censoring normal anatomical words as if they're dirty - using nonsense terms like "v&g1n@". You'll never catch us doing that. Here's why...

In May 1988, legislation passed in the UK "prohibiting the promotion of homosexuality" by local authorities. It was in effect for a decade and a half, with massive impact on the LGBT+ community. This is a brief history of Section 28.

On this day in 1916, the first family planning clinic in the USA opened. Sisters Margaret Sanger and Ethel Byrne, and artist Fania Mindell opened a clinic which supplied barrier contraceptives and provided information about how to prevent pregnancy.

Just nine days later, the clinic was raided by police and all three women were arrested.

Almost 2% of the population are intersex: they have natural variations which mean they do not fit into binary notions of sex. There are many different types of intersex traits, and some intersex people have uterine tissue, which means they can get endometriosis. But the number of intersex people affected by this isn't known. Why? Let's explore.

Medical illustration of pregnancy and foetus by Chidiebere Ibe, 2020. Ibe is a Nigerian medical illustrator and student who noticed that less than 5% of illustrations in textbooks depict Black skin, and is working to change that.

Ibe has also illustrated skin conditions such as eczema, which look different on dark skin but are seldom included in textbooks.

It took us weeks to find a first aid training supplier who had a CPR training mannequin with breasts. We wanted our first aiders to learn correct CPR techniques performed when breasts are present, because our visitors are more likely to have breasts! The default training mannequin doesn't have breasts.

Anyway, a big thank you to Siren Training for procuring a mannequin with breasts for training!

You all know and love the movie Moana, right? And you all know and love the demigod Māui? Well, Disney and Lin Manuel Miranda skipped a particular Māui story in the "You're Welcome" song. It involves vagina dentata.
