@CoachMark @Skepticat There was some meeting between Johnson and some Ukrainian religious leaders, stressing their mutual christian connection or something. Russians are orthodox, an entirely different religion, and it seems this was the path to getting Johnson’s support.

@nus @atomicpoet I’m hardly a good reference, being pretty sour on organized religions altogether, but I know a few things.

Judeo-Christian is actually public relations nonsense where “Judeo” is just folded into Christianity, but given lip service. So, it’s Christian values, but market-approved to appeal to a wider audience. Still, Jews need not apply. (1/2)

The afterlife thing: Jews don’t have heaven or hell, we just pass away. There are days of reckoning for bad behavior throughout life.

Many Jews don’t support Israel, or any notion of a god-given or biblically mandated state, especially not helmed by far right warmonger Bibi.

So, yeah, there are some very twisted ideas that some Jews have accepted to justify their support of conservatism or the right wing. I find it appalling (2/2)

I try not to pay attention to the constant, never-ending, inexorable stream of adverts being beamed into my face. But this one for yoghurt makes me crazy. It's called Fage. It's clearly called Fage. Only they're insisting it's pronounced 'Faya' (fire). I am sure this is retrofitted and refuse to believe anyone is calling it Faya. Stop lying to us, yoghurt people.

@RickiTarr Never in any kind of clique. Eventually made a couple of friends, nerdy kids, and that was pretty great. I liked learning, hated sports like kryptonite. Still, mostly a loner, not uncomfortable with it.
