icg937, to japanese Spanish That moment when you're learning #Japanese, and you wonder "How to say 'United States' in Japanese?", and someone answers "アメリカ". Son of a b*tch, I didn't wonder how to say #America, I wondered how to say #UnitedStates :ablobcatgooglymlemjumping: 🤡
icg937, Spanish @bookstardust 미국 is, in fact, United States, so you're right. But, on the other hand, 미국인 (which is United States + person) is not Usonian, but American (America, the continent, + person), so there is something wrong there :thonking:
icg937, Spanish @bookstardust OK, my bad, sorry.
socks, to JapaneseMusic #JMusicFriday theme is #Fancam #JFanCam (Thanks @NaraMoore !)
This is from the EN VTubing fandom, but the wotagei section of "Diamond City Lights" gets me every time. I've never been able to go to an actual concert, but I've always chanted along whenever it shows up on stream. (I love the Enna speeeeen on this one too!)
NaraMoore, Nice, I love a show where the audience is involved. Seeing a sea of penlights is awesome.
Himari has commented on the different feel of shows depending on the country and the audience's familiarity with idol traditions. She loves it when the audience lights up with red penlights.
Non-Sweet recently commented how the atmosphere will suddenly change when they come on stage. Announcers watching the wota file to the front with penlights don't know what to think.
enog, to japanese In Japan, we call this “Hotchkiss”😊
The first stapler imported to Japan was made by this company 😉My wife and I were talking about household items that we have been using for a long time on a regular basis. I got a 45 years old toolkit and 40 years old nail clipper 😉 But she has been using this Hotchkiss for 40 years 😊

socks, to JapaneseMusic #JMusicFriday theme is #JCovers - this is probably my favorite of the flood of Oshi No Ko "Idol" covers and the only one I go back to all the time. Tim Henson is so freakin cool
Also the way he so casually drops the pick to unleash his full power 😭
PiggyInSpace, to JapaneseMusic For #JMusicFriday I'll share this cool cover of Jump by #Asterism. Love how this talented three-piece managed to incorporate the vocal and keyboard parts.
I believe they recorded this in honor of Eddie VH's passing. 🙏

Bard, to JapaneseMusic About time I got back to JMusic Friday!
This week's theme is covers, and I'm going with the most recent cover I heard which I can't get out of my head: Ado covering the Vocaloid track Buriki No Dance.
Ado's star only continues to rise, and this cover shows off her abilities so well!
CavoriteLizard, to JapaneseMusic Ooh JMusicFriday's theme this week is Covers!
I love this cover of My Boyfriend Is A Pilot by Ali Project from Macross the Tribute (that sentence alone is the stuff that 13 year old me's dreams were made of)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmwZ1BvB8W4
naan, @CavoriteLizard that entire album had some great covers!
soycamo, to japanese Has anyone gone through the Keio University Japanese program? This one: https://www.cjs.keio.ac.jp/about/
What did you think of it? Would you recommend it?

FlockOfCats, @soycamo @justironic hitting a wall in Japanese is rough, but you get used to it after 15 years or so :deadinside: :endme:
soycamo,
kaspurr, to JapaneseMusic I'm disappointed I haven't listen to this album in full before but goddamn am I happy to now.
The iconic 90s pop instrumentals paired with their vocals is phenomenal.
iainmerrick, to japanese I'm still learning Japanese vocabulary on the side. Every so often I'm excited to realise I can figure out the kanji for words I already knew. For example, I just now realised that "dojo" → dō jō → 道 場 → "way place", i.e. the place where you study the Way (whichever dō that is — kendo, judo, etc).
Another fun one is "daimyo", who are your old-timey samurai clan chieftains. I always used to mispronounce this as "diam-yo", but it's actually dai-myō → 大名 → "big name"!

What do you say when asked to say something in Japanese?
At break with coworkers today, I mentioned learning Japanese since a bit over a year now. I was then asked to say something in Japanese, but I couldn’t really think of anything good....
ambergrey, to jpmusic Songwriting. Lyrics are: I have crossed the yellow lines, to a hollowed mind. I have crossed the yellow lines. All in due time. #song #AmberGrey #IndieMusic #indie #Songwriter #singer #piano #keyboard #musician #musodon
NigelTufnel, @ambergrey This is lovely!
eyesquash, @ambergrey At the computer rather than the phone, so I can hear things. I though I heard Bbminor7 into B major... that's not important. I mean to say I liked it. :)
anianimalsmoe, to japanese Oh yeah, it's Miku day. As usual, it's a pun of 9th March as 39.

mdmrn, @ljaesch @miona @pagesandhope @RickiTarr @Mizzyviss @NaraMoore So welcome!!
nazokiyoubinbou, to JapaneseMusic This #JMusicFriday theme is to celebrate women. I can't think of a "women power" style song just off the top of my head and started to not even get involved in this one, but then I realized my favorite artists are actually already the perfect example of this. I'm talking about the various #utattemita and #utaite who worked to create an environment where even an independent person with no label can create and sell so much.

socks, to JapaneseMusic Today's #JMusicFriday theme is #celebratewomen - first song that came to mind was "Tokimeki" by Ikimonogakari!
Pretty Cure celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and this song featured prominently in the anniversary PV. It was also the theme of "Precure All Stars Movie F" and "Kibou no Chikara: Otona Precure", which both aired Fall 2023. The song itself is bright, uplifting, and an anthem of self-love and optimism.
