"The importance of the ZX Spectrum and its role in the early history of personal computing and video gaming has left many to regard it as the most important and influential computer of the 1980s."
"QX82 is a tiny Javascript engine that lets you create games and experiences inspired by the look and feel of a retro 80s computer. It's not an emulator or a fantasy console: it's just a Javascript library."
As I was passing by Cantanhede I decided to visit the LOAD ZX Spectrum museum, which shows the history of Sinclair and the #zxspectrum, including its prevalence in #Portugal. It is free to visit, and lets you play around with some of the hardware. #retrocomputing#retrogaming
I created this Pixel art Retro Jotter for the ZX Spectrum so I don't have to find scraps of squared paper I have lying around. It has pages for screens and sprites/objects so I can use it to doodle characters and design levels etc. Self published through Amazon in case anybody else finds it useful... https://amzn.eu/d/9irxxuW#retro#pixelart#zxspectrum mine should arrive tomorrow, I'll be using it for roughing out Gherbert Groundhog 2 and other stuff. :D will post photos.
40 years later, a game for the ZX Spectrum will be once again broadcast over FM radio! 📻 Anyone who still has a working Spectrum ZX will then be able to test the game. 🎮 Those who do not have one can do so at the museum or online. 💻
I don’t post on here often, but you can find the latest news about the ongoing development of the #ZXSpectrum version of #MelkhiorsMansion on its Itch.io devlog page.
Old(ish) pixelart time: for 2017 april fools I pretended to have found the earliest working version of Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth. Here's the title screen and three rooms. Not the greatest Spectrum pixel art by a long stretch, but in my defense: I only had a couple of days and I had to make the game as well 🤷♀️ #indianajones#zxspectrum#pixelart#agd
Hey UK friends, can you help a Canadian that's less familiar with troubleshooting her Speccy?
It was working fine like 6 weeks ago, but now it doesn't seem to want to load any .tap audio.
I've tried different volumes, different settings, different cables. The sound is definitely playing. Could the Ear port have developed an issue?
I know I could get an SD loader, but loading it through audio was so charming!
How would those familiar with the unit troubleshoot this? #zxspectrum
Okay, following my quick "I'll try coding for CP/M" lark today, I've come up a couple of routines to quickly learn some asm coding for CP/M and to play with my #RC2014 Bus Interfaces for connecting RC2014 modules to the SAM Coupe and ZX Spectrum.
It's really just proof of concept stuff which I'll look at in this thread...
I'm currently finishing "The Heart of Salamanderland" for the Amstrad CPC, that will have a physical release by PolyPlay (see my Brick Rick for an example!).
