Unsere 4. 😅

Brass ist Krieg.

I never ever ever win at Dominion, although I always have fun regardless. But tonight, I crushed my opponents so thoroughly that they aren’t going to ever let me use the strategy I used again.

I don't think I've played keyflower, since it came out, over ten years ago - so great to get it to the table again. @iain nearly pipped me at the post with his autumn scoring tiles but my sweep of all the winter tiles won it for me

1/5 @brettspiele @boardgame

"I sure do love boardgames" they mused to themself, filling the 20th bag with manually punched-out cardboard coins. After 2 hours of organizing pieces and sifting through punchboards, the shiny new board game was finally ready to put back in the box and sit on a shelf for months.

Wandering Towers by brilliant and prolific designers Michael Kiesling and Wolfgang Kramer, and published by Capstone Games and Abacus Spiele.
Players race to get their wizards to Ravenskeep. On a turn you can move your wizards or move any tower section, ideally trapping other players’ wizards to earn potions that you can spend on “special action” spells.
Last night we played two six-player games and each one took about an hour. It was chaotic and tactile and great fun.

A game of Wandering Towers showing a few stacked towers which may have trapped players’ wizards, preventing them from moving.

Going to and like to play or card games?

We've got 2h "workshops" on Friday and Saturday where you can come along and play some games, a bit like a board game cafe, but without the cafe or the per -hour charging.

We'll have some games or bring your own. Look in the schedule [ https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/ ] under "Workshops" for "Board Games"!

A truly retro painting job today. I painted up this classic 2nd edition 40K Gretchin using everyone's most nostalgic colours. Paint quality may have moved on over the years, but there is a real joy to using these paints.

The second game that we attempted was Regicide, also from New Zealand. We even got to the first King in the third attempt before the inevitable occurred.

Trying to learn Flesh and Blood. The ninja was easy to play but second attempt with Illusionist met with crushing fail. Interesting TCG. As always you have to study the game to figure out best ways to play.

Pub cat tried to learn too.

I've been doing some prototyping as I realized that C cassette boxes are fantastic containers for small card games.

I'm currently working on one but meanwhile, wanted to try things out and printed covers for couple of games - designed by yours truly.

I still need to come up with 9 card designs as the two projects I'm currently working on only have 46 cards and the minimum print is 55.

Morning Mastodonians!

Well, here it is again, as unwanted as ever - Monday. It wasn't a bad weekend, even though it rained each day at least a little bit, making it 16 out of 20 weekends so far this year. I did manage to squeeze in a mowing of the lawn to at least show someone lives here. We played on Sunday, getting in a whole "game", which was fun. It makes 8 games out of probably 20 for this campaign legacy game.

I've been getting slightly obsessed with trick takers. In the last few weeks I've played:

Boast or Nothing
Cauldron 15
Chimera
Dealt
Extreme Tricks
Nokosu Dice
Potato Man
Rage
Seas of Strife
Smart Ass
Stick Em
Voodoo Prince

Luckily the club is open to playing them. They enjoy the interactivity and familiar rules.

Today we were going to play Dune Imperium: Uprising, but just couldn’t get through the rules. A bit too heavy for my brain today. So instead we played Bamboo. Still a new game for us, but much more accessible. Surprisingly thinky, but Devir games tend to be that way. 7.5/10

Enjoyed our game of last night. It's a fairly simple game to learn, but can get complex when considering all scoring variables. It also helps that I won twice in a row now 😂
