The contradiction in the profile bio of every OpenAI researcher is that you can't truly believe in AGI and that it will be net positive for humanity.

At best you're lying to yourself to justify your work and at worst you are ignoring centuries of human history.

  1. the competition for resources, in particular energy and water (for cooling) and

It is intentionally making its own workers hate the company.

To Halt or Not to Halt? That Is the Question by Cristian Calude, 2024

Can mathematics be done by computers only? Can software testing be fully automated? Can you write an anti-virus program which never needs any updates? Can we make the Internet perfectly secure? Your guess is correct: the answer to each question is negative.

In other words, deleting data is no longer enough. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Any nerds out there know whether itโ€™s possible to find an adapter to replace this tiny drive with something more useful?

Iโ€™m pondering this tiny Dell PC as a home server, but it only has USB 2. So Iโ€™m wondering whether I could run an adapter cable to a socket outside the case into which I can plug something with a usable capacity.

As far as I can tell itโ€™s a 44 pin IDE DOM, but not much appears to work with it.

I miss computers with switches and blinky lights. Back in the day, i booted systems from switches and reels of mag tape. At least you knew they were doing something while they were doing it. Now, we hav progress bars that estimate time on some other planet.

switched us from Visa to Mastercard. Fine, but the Mastercard never appears in your online banking account so thereโ€™s no way to pay it off. As of today, the balances for all accounts have vanished on Vivaldi, though you can still see them on Firefox. Still no credit card entry though.
Theyโ€™ve had how many years to prepare this transition?
I donโ€™t think I should be charged any interest at all for the last two weeks.
