Which foods have the most plastics? CNN says ninety percent of animal and vegetable protein samples tested in research published in February tested positive for microplastics. Other studies said vegetables can absorb microplastics through their root systems, and salt and sugar can also contain plastic. Here's the full story, including some advice on reducing your exposure. Tell us: Which of these proteins do you think contains the most plastic?

Here's one for the vegans and animal rights folks!

The Farm Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that owns two farms, one in NY, and one in CA, where they
-care for animals rescued from factory farms
-"educate students, civic organizations, and the public about the inhumane practices of factory farming, encouraging awareness of the compassion related to plant-based human diets"
-fight for institutional reforms to the food system that encourage plant-based farming and diets

Seems like a cool organization. Here's their website: https://www.farmsanctuary.org/home

How do hedge funds and asset management firms (e.g. BlackRock) influence food governance & shape our diets?

This paper was an eye-opener for me - and it's open access!

Plus, it's quite interesting background to the ongoing German farmers' protests...

Evolution or revolution in transitions to sustainable, healthy food systems? The annual symposium of Future Food Utrecht brought together different viewpoints on work to improve our current system, or work to revamp the system entirely. Very proud of our session on roles of animals in food systems!
One day was clearly too little but brought a taste for more- to be continued!

Why have the flocks of birds grown so much smaller? Why isn't your car covered in insects from summer driving like it used to be? The answer is probably: neonicatinoids. A pesticide that is far too widely used, often without evidence that it benefits crop yields. Even though it may also be harming humans, manufacturers continue to insist that it's fine, everything is fine.
