When I was growing up, I read voraciously. I was drawn mostly to #fantasy and #ScienceFiction#books . My dad simply did not get it, at all. He only really read stuff like Tom Clancy and other military fiction writers, saying that if a book isn't realistic, he wasn't interested. This just goes to show how different we are, as I've always read for escapism. This world is fundamentally broken and I don't like engaging with it too much. Give me something fantastical, something different.
Seria "Harry Potter", "Zmierzch" i "Igrzyska Śmierci" - to tytuły, które przychodzą mi na myśl, gdy myślę o książkach, które stały się popularne wśród młodzieży i stanowiły dobry materiał do ekranizacji, osiągając tym samym światowy sukces jako marka. Cykl HP to dla mnie absolutna legenda i ponadczasowa seria (książki, choć filmy też niezłe). "Zmierzchu" czytać i oglądać nie zamierzam. Natomiast chciałem sprawdzić "Hunger Games" i... no tak średnio bym powiedział. Ekranizacji nie widziałem, ale wierzę, że może być dobra. Książka - nie bardzo. To esencja młodzieżówki, ale w tej raczej złej formie. Choć widzę po ocenach na LC, że jestem w tym odosobniony.
@SceNtriC jup, bardziej o to mi chodzi, że gdybym przyszedł do księgarni/biblioteki, poprosił by mi pani zaproponowała coś dla syna/córki z fantastyki młodzieżowej dostając wynik w postaci tak zawężonego YA to pewnie nie tyko bardzo bym się zdziwił ale też następną wizytę odbył w innej księgarni / bibliotece :D
I generalnie - ta etykietka nie zmienia wartości książki. Ale takie etykietki są bardzo pomocne gdy rzucasz pytanie w stylu - hej ludzie, zaproponujcie mi coś w z... Stąd wbrew pozorom znaczenie jest istotne (przynajmniej dla mnie).

I re-read Cecelia Ahern’s novels often because I love how she writes magical realism. She’s been my favourite since I first read ‘If You Could See Me Now’ when I was fourteen! The day when you take the achievement snatched from many year's of precious spare time moments, put on a cover & upload it to bookstores.
I'm there with epic #fantasy book 3/3 in my debut trilogy, and sad to let these beautiful, #queer, #neurodiverse characters and the found family they made go.
With this book, I pushed my ability to plot a complex, multi-civilisation conflict to its limits.
I loved every bit of it. I hope some of you do too.

Urocza książka, typowa młodzieżówka "guilty pleasure", którą czyta się z bananem na twarzy i wierzy, że wszystko skończy się dobrze. W tym ta lektura jest znakomita - nie oczekujcie po niej ambicji, niespodziewanych zwrotów akcji itd. Raczej dajcie się ponieść urokliwości historii i efektowi "aaaaaaaw". Mnie się podobało, ale jestem dużym dzieckiem.

I'm thinking about the recent romantasy turn in fantasy/romance novels and how the Cantata books may have fit, say, 10 years ago. But in that time I grew old and then decided I didn't want to force spiciness onto my novels and removed most of it.
I still think one of the spiciest scenes is when they are reading books together and...not a single piece of clothing was discarded. 😉
Slow burn indeed. Mind you, I enjoy reading #romantasy every now and again. I'm just not sure I'm the right person to be writing it. Spiciness is just too much work and I'd rather be focusing on other things!
There's a fair bit of romance in Cantata of the Fourfold Realms but most of it is low-key and organically building up.

My beloved fairy necklace with earrings went to a client in Hollywood. Paper yarn in fairy green with Japanese glass art. Elaborately handmade. For people who dare.
I still make them today in several colours, but each one is unique. Why did I never made one for me?! 🤔
