@whknott There are several things they teach you at bomb disposal school

One of the most important is that when approaching or retreating from an explosive device, you walk, carefully

You watch where you put your feet

There are a couple of reasons for this

You don't want to step on a mine is one

But the main reason is you don't want to twist your ankle while in the blast radius

As with all rules there are exceptions

Like when you see the timer has 5 seconds left to go

So he ran like hell

The boats slammed against the water as the engines chewed through the choppy river. On cue the enemy voiced their displeasure in 7.62 mm. Good, they hadn't had time to setup. Their defenses should be limp. Someone on the boat addressed their concerns with a Carl gustav. 'Lula's hit! Take the engine! Shit! Brace for impact!' The boat slammed into the river bank hard. Having trained to expect the unexpected, I jumped right before the impact and landed into the mud. It's go time.

Mr. Toad was fed up with humans and their pollution; they’d kill everything. The S.O.B.s were arrogant, thinking they were the only intelligent species on the planet. The only advantage they had was hands. So, Mr. Toad devised a devious plan. He found a sprayer tank and had his friend Mr. Moto Komodo adjust the nozzle to make it a super atomizer. Then he gathered and refined neurotoxin from his skin, and released it into the atmosphere. The fuckers were all dead within two days.

staringatclouds,
@staringatclouds@mastodon.social avatar

@whknott Professor xxirkl held the device steady as professor krrag made the final adjustments

Professor jrrl watched in trepidation

This was zero point energy

The energy contained in a cubic centimetre of empty space could boil the oceans dry

One mistake would be catastrophic

None of them had time to see the flash as the device exploded, vaporising them

The result was like a planet killing meteorite strike

Almost all life on the planet was extinguished

All that that had super rich business people as heros
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Maybe enough with that crap and write some stuff recognizing that democratic governments formed because super rich people screw things up not fix things

SrRochardBunson,

@voron 😂

All of this!

Life SUCKED under monarchies, totalitarians and fascists.

That's EXACTLY what made the USA such a big freakin' deal.

benda,

@reallyflygreg @SrRochardBunson @voron there's more propaganda than just that, but yes, worship of the "powerful" is a common one.

Wohoo, my replacement Firefly Blurays arrived. The first set i ordered had a small defect in disc 2, making one of the episodes unreadable in one region. This one seems fine. No read errors.

Good thing I've started to check the discs in the boxsets. I've had a lot of issues with the big 41 disc Stargate boxset produces by VEI. The disc production is of mediocre quality, which is disappointing considering the steep price.

veronica,
@veronica@mastodon.online avatar

@UKFilmNerd Yeah, the FIrefly disc had a line embedded in the plastic somewhere, it wasn't a scratch. It also followed the arch of the track. It corresponded to about 100 MB of unreadable data or thereabout. That is enough to cause a lot of glitches in playback, and in a player may cause it to skip since it needs to keep up the pace with the playback.

I usually convert my discs to video files so I can stream them to the TV, which gives me a bit more time to get the data out.

veronica,
@veronica@mastodon.online avatar

@UKFilmNerd I also had a lot of issues with season one of my old Star Trek Deep Space Nine DVDs for my video upscale project. Turned out they used a form of disc encryption that made blocks on the disc unreadable. I installed the correct Linux library for it, and suddenly they were fine. The rest of the season did not have this.

The upscale turned out fantastic by the way. About to finish watching season two. 😊

Follow me
Follow me
What will you see
If you follow me?

Down the tunnel
Silken funnel
Feel the magic
Follow me.

In your mind
What will you find?
Am I real?
Follow me.

Lose your dreams
Silence your screams
Don't look back
Follow me.

Siren song
It won't be long
Until you're mine
Follow me.

Floating, waking, floating. Dreaming, I guess. A party. A goat man. A disease. I guess. Or I drank something. Brain fog and swirling cloth. Did I leave the window open? The door? Did I lock the door? I can't rise to see. Eyes heavy. Limbs ache. Is it day? Am I awake? Where did the goat man go? Was he in a dream or was he?

A breeze swirls the cloth. A door has opened somewhere. Time passes.

Oh. A face. At the end of the white tunnel. A goat face.

I'm not entirely sure, but I'd daresay: "Something with a theremin" - I mean, isn't that THE theme song instrument?

I am not saying he is not a good artist. I am saying I do not care for his work because of my personal tastes.

I enjoy the more surreal/collage side of SF art -- Paul Lehr, Richard Powers, Anita Siegel, Wojtek Siudmak, Atelier Heinrichs et al.

I tend not to read comic books in any form. Not for me.

SFRuminations,
@SFRuminations@wandering.shop avatar

@waarismijnhoofd For things I enjoy, definitely check out the site. These are just birthday posts and as I do them year after year after year, I change up the art, etc. and it does not reflect my personal tastes.

matthieu,
@matthieu@weber.fi.eu.org avatar

brunus,
@brunus@mamot.fr avatar
