I wrote chapter 19 of my novel in a single day! 😃

Remember the awkward sex scene between Pearson and Bethany?

Well, I finally managed to turn it into something wholesome, AND miraculously found a way for them not to have sex - at least with each other. So Pearson could get off and Bethany could get paid, without breaking any ethical barrier.

Tomorrow I'll give it a final check before publishibg it.

I'm sure loads of people are going to be put off by my interpretation of merpeople in my current . But I'm having fun turning myths and folklore on its head and making it unique.

We experience time in rich deposits. All our Nows arranged in rows. A counted structure stacked and shaky. We move from experience to experience with a quota undisclosed. So measurably quantifiable. So unavoidably few. We experience time as something counting down...

I'm working on my concept of time. Dealing with time travel, I'd like to say I have a sophisticated grasp of the mechanics and paradoxes of time. Yeah. Above my pay grade, boss.

In my world where the present and the near future are connected by a physical gateway, a basic question is: If I do X in the present does X manifest, having always existed, in the future?

My answer so far is: Sometimes? Not exactly. We don't quite know, really.

Time is hard.

The ologies episode about the WGA strike is worth a listen. I've been following this pretty closely, and I still learned a few new things, like that until pretty much now, choreographers were one of the last TV and movie jobs without a union.

Amazon paying Alie Ward $185/wk to write scripts is exactly where the whole industry would be without the unions, and where the billionaire owners still want to take it.

Perhaps I’ll craft one about a “site less proof reeder”.

Lot of writing got done I'm in that rare groove where I don't want to stop. It's the best feeling.

Did, stop, though, to have tea with my sister at Kalk Baai. The tea place had windows looking out on this scene in the photo:

It is COLD today. Frikken cold.

Notes are almost always painful for the artist, which has a lot to do with how bad most of us — including artists — are at giving them

Messenger pigeons, except they're cybernetic! You program your pigeon with its destination. The receiver inserts the USB stick into the holo projector, and voila!

This would be useful in areas with high surveillance - and would make things much more romantic.

In a way, I think realtime access to the internet strips away a nice part of offline communication.

Letters are gone, and who writes personal emails nowadays? It's all instant messages!

Now let's think of the government surveillance idea. Imagine servers open and close by day, so you'd need to find your lovey dovey in the daily turmoil of chaotic temporary servers.

(with the bonus of govt crack downs making private internet unavailable at crucial times - good plot device!)

I might need to consider this... 🤔

"The year is 2684. Government surveillance of the internet is law. But there are underground internet servers opening and closing in matter of hours. Here, in the under-nets, is where people can speak freely about civil matters... or engage in shady deals." 😎

Damn. I am done with 25% of my novel, I can't afford another rewrite. Oh well :blobshrug:

I love how customisable is. Doing interior formatting of my upcoming book (both paperback and hardcover), which involves a lot of repetitive clicking on menus to change page styles at the right place etc... Recording a few macro's to do that and assigning them to keyboard shortcuts makes this so much more efficient.

Having one of those writing sessions where every time I think I've figured out what the story wants to be it thumbs its nose at me & runs off in a completely different direction. Given that (per challenge rules) I'm only allowed to spend 3 hrs on this, I'm struggling!
