For a while I have stored my backups in S3. It's around 3 TB of data.
I'm looking forwards to a secondary service for a second back up.
Don't need fancy or GUI stuff, just the ability to upload from Linux CLI and/or API, with preferably a sync tool (think "aws s3 sync"), and an online tool to watch what's in it.
Any suggestions for places that aren't mega dodgy or do any kind of tracking? EU preferred too.
Is there any viable alternative to Rancher out there?
Preferably something that I can let anyone login to, and deploy workloads, but something that is not that stupid to run
I'm trying to write a #bash script/function to convert qwerty-typed text into #colemak so I can play with it without actually converting.
It's working great, but won't pass newlines no matter what I try.
Any ideas?
Ze function:
function colemak-practice() {
while IFS= read -sn1 letter
do
echo -n "$letter" |tr "eErRtTyYuUiIoOpPaAsSdDfFgGhHjJkKlL;:nN" "fFpPgGjJlLuUyY;:aArRsStTdDhHnNeEiIoOkK"
done
}
#AskFedi#Autism I'm finding it hard to deal with some of my feelings, and it feels like I can't relate to people's experiences. I thought I might be on the spectrum, but whenever I read about it it feels like I'm excluded somehow - not quite neurotypical, but not 'autistic enough' to be autistic. I think grounding my thoughts would help reduce the confusion. Would anyone be happy to talk with me about autistic experience? :blobcatheart: 💜
Question for people who like to geek out about Merkle trees. Anti-crypto comments will be ignored.
If a P2P network is storing genealogical records, it does need universal consensus, right? Alice can't be the daughter of Bob in one part of the network, and daughter of Johan in another part.
Does that mean this is legitimate use case for a BlockChain? Or could you use something like HoloChain?
What online multiplayer games play well over wifi/higher latency?
I'm thinking turn-based games may work okay in this respect, but which of those might you recommend besides Civ? Also what other types of games work better over wifi/higher latency than you might expect?
I know ideally you'd simply wire up your system to not have to fuss with either, but it's not always an option in some circumstances.
Hey #AskFedi,
Any semitic language scholars out there?
I'm looking to translate Luke 18:13's phrase "God be merciful to me a sinner" into Aramaic, with something approaching period-accurate Aramaic script (whatever Unicode can handle)
I haven't taken a look yet, but if we implemented a hashtag syntax for nonstandard characters to be able to use things like DOIs and ISBNs and etc. like this:
