Voters may not care about 1.5C limits or island nations disappearing: they can scoff at press releases and buy into #ClimateDenial conspiracy theories all they want. But paying more for cover is going to start focusing middle-income voters, and they are NOT going to be happy.

We need to get out of the mindset that #safeStreets are expensive (or that they look like #CompleteStreets) and the dangerous ones are a force of nature that we have to keep spending all the money on. #Misinformation by #omission: ABC, CBS, and NBC aired a combined 123 segments about the #heat wave, but only seven mentioned #climatechange. Major cable networks did no better: CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC aired 187 segments about the heat waves, but only 8 mentioned climate change.
the #fossilfuel industry is taking more direct action to influence #climatepolicy. The world’s largest climate #conference, #COP28, is being led this year by a United Arab Emirates #oilbaron. Al-Jaber and other UAE leadership have already said they have a new “game-changing plan” to solve the #climatecrisis: involving oil and gas companies more fully in the U.N. climate talks. This isn’t the first time the fossil fuel industry has #infiltrated the U.N. climate summit, but it is the most blatant.

I am curious to see what all the climate activist bigwigs will do - some set up briefly here but almost instantly returned, others just stayed on Twitter. It’s been a particularly disappointing dimension of this saga - more #ClimateScientists than activists came here. Will they now go to #Threads or stay on #Twitter, forever battling #ClimateDenial there?
