All right, I've just learned that it was my #Fediversary yesterday and I have a new paper out on arxiv today, so let's celebrate all that with an #astrodon 🧵 on magnetized accretion, and it's surprising connections with turbulence in ... pipes ! It's quite a ride in terms of research story
So, it's officially been (a bit over) a year since I came to the fedi. I don't miss Twitter at all. I miss some people there, of course. But I don't miss the "gotcha" culture, the near-constant mansplaining, all the tiny bits of nastiness that just wear on you, day by day. And of course, that was before it became all of what it is today. Thank you, friends for a great year. Looking forward to many more.
I have been tied up with work today, and have a few chores to go and do now, but I couldn't let the first year of our things.uk Mastodon instance go by without making a little something for it.
It's our tootiversary!
Lovely to be here, and thank you for making me so welcome 😊
Today marks the one year anniversary of DMV.community! I'm so glad I started this Mastodon instance. There have been many great conversations and I've met a lot of great people. It's been a learning experience for me, for sure, but I love it.
I'm grateful to everyone who has joined, participated, donated, and provided feedback. It's been great meeting you all, and I look forward to the upcoming year here!
A year ago, I decided to give Mastodon a try and I've never looked back. I found fellow Twitter refugees and discovered amazing OG Fediverse accounts. Many of the folks I discovered in my local feed are still my favorite follows. Y'all are stuck with me now. ❤️
Yesterday was my year anniversary with Mastodon, and it's been so cool. I've met so many awesome people in just a year, it's mindblowing, really. Here's to many more!
My official #Mastoversary was in April. However, yesterday was the anniversary of when I joined the Urusai Instance.
In the year I've been on Urusai, I've went from about 300 to 1000 followers, which is still a third of what I had on Twitter. And yet, I'm finding myself having more likes, boosts, and real, genuine interactions now than I had over on the social media platform formally known as Twitter.
I don't miss it. I miss some of the people there, but not the platform.
I'm glad I made the switch to #Mastodon. And I'm glad for all the new folks I met here.
Today is my first #Fediversary (is that a word? I mean my #anniversary of joining the #Fediverse)
I've truly found a new social media home and love the fact that we're here exchanging thoughts, news and ideas beyond corporate control.
Despite missing certain communities, I've found new ones to engage with - so thanks to everyone on here!
Around November last year is when I greatly reduced my use of Twitter and really started engaging on Fedi. I had an account on mstdn.social but ditched that for hachyderm.io, then made an account later on blorbo.social and then moved hachyderm account to blahaj.zone, and also moved blorbo.social to sakurajima.social (somewhere between all of that, I made a misskey.io account, which I still have, and I made a kbin.social account).
Anyway, just wanna say that I definitely enjoy my time here. It's unfortunate that some friends from Twitter have decided to go to other platforms (recently reached out to some and they have made a new home in bluesky), but moving always had these consequences. Made new friends, followed a lot of different people, built a cozy corner here.
So, this is my fediversary post (made up date because it's not quite when I made my first account).
Glad to have met everyone! I hope to see more growth and improvement in Fedi's various projects, especially in moderation tools and safety (both been and still is an important topic of conversation on here).
It’s my FediVersary! My MastoBirthday! My Birthtodon! I joined a year ago.
So glad to have a non-profit social media platform. And I really enjoy the community, and all the new folks I’ve connected with here, some even IRL!
In addition to all the diverse voices and perspectives that help me stay informed and empathetic, I get to hear really cool stories from people who were / are active in the music scenes and bands I post about.
Today marks my one year fediversary. I've written up some thoughts about what I've learned this year.
But in summary, I've found passionate communities and kind individuals that spark my interests in ways I never imagined. If you're seeing this, truly, thank you!
Yesterday was my #MastodonAnniversary. 🥳 Overall, this has been a very interesting year for social media and I like the discourse and insights here in the Fediverse. There are some topics and activities that I miss from the other site but I haven't and won't be posting there anymore.
One year ago today I joined chaos.social and left Twitter for good. I want to thank everyone on the Fediverse who helped make this whole thing a pleasant experience.
I've had many nice interactions, I've met new people and I've learned a lot about the independent web during my time here. I hope this continues!
Today marks a year since I joined the #Fediverse via mas.to on November 8 last year (during a blood moon!) after a friend told me about it. :Fediverse:
I loved it so much I went on to create my own server https://mastodon.moule.world with my own emojis! :MOULE_Happy:
#Mastodon and #Fedi continue to be such amazing experiences and I'm so happy I can continue sharing my music and art here. I miss the amazing artists from Twitter though, but definitely not the platform.
