Australia: large new study involving hundreds of thousands of Victorian patients has confirmed ambulance callouts for chest pain rise notably as temperatures increase. “The findings suggest the state should brace for a rise in patients presenting to hospital with heat-related chest pains” #heathealth#heatwave#climatecrisis#Australia
"Nigerians are facing a double whammy as scorching #heatwave coincides with widespread #PowerOutages that have seen many areas experience total darkness for days on end.
About half of the country is in danger of sunstroke, muscle cramps, and heat exhaustion as air temperatures hit 47°C over the north and 39°C over the south, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet)."
Utilities blame "gas constraints" for the outages.
"Millions are sweltering through Western #Australia hottest February on record, with five days of temperatures above 40 degrees in Perth and likely more to come.
Other parts of #WesternAustralia are set to reach oppressive temperatures over the coming days, with some areas to reach more than 50 degrees."
Do these cooler type things work at all? I have to survive another upcoming #heatwave and can’t regulate my body temperature (#dysautonomia) so am risking #heatstroke again. I’m still recovering from last week so do not want.
Just humidity machines? (Humidity makes thinks even worse).

(Sorry if this dodgy link braining not good.)
Have no air conditioning & abuser will not allow me to have one.
Any ideas? A fan doesn’t cut it. A fan with ice pack doesn’t work. Think I‘ve tried everything but welcome to ideas.
Yes I still need somewhere else to to live but in meantime trying to survive.
#Chile, #Argentina and other parts of #SouthAmerica’s southern cone have been facing a severe #HeatWave, something experts say will become more common during the southern hemisphere summer months due to #ClimateChange.
"The fires have ravaged thousands of hectares of forest since Friday, cloaking coastal cities in a dense fog of grey smoke and forcing people to flee their homes in the central regions of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso.
As Chile and Colombia battle rising temperatures, the heatwave is also threatening to sweep over Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil in the coming days."
"A #heatwave is affecting #Argentina, #Brazil, #Chile, #Uruguay, and #Paraguay with temperatures reaching 48 degrees Celsius [120F] and forecast to remain around or above 40 degrees [104F] for several days."
Repeat >> PNNL: Creating a Cool Room for Extreme Heat Events
"Given the reality of global climate change and the increasing likelihood of extreme heat events, designing and retrofitting homes for resistance to extreme heat and power outages should be considered in all climates. Extending the "hours of safety" that a home can provide when air-conditioning is not available can be life-saving. However, it is not necessary for an entire home to be resistant to extreme heat. Instead, the design or retrofit can concentrate on just one room. "
WaPo Capital Weather Gang: Washington soars to 80 degrees, its highest January temperature on record
"Reagan National Airport, the official observing site for Washington, reached 80 degrees, the highest observed in January since records began in 1872.
Friday’s temperature reached 80 degrees earlier than any other year by several weeks. The previous earliest 80-degree temperature in Washington occurred Feb. 21, 2018. In an average year, Washington doesn’t post its first 80-degree high until March 28."
