I'm on BBC Radio Leeds this morning (Thu 23) talking about Wakefield Artwalk.

I'll be on around 11:40am (BST) chatting to Steve Jordan, who's sitting in for the lovely Gayle Lofthouse.

Saw the (always amazing) as part of the Lau-Land weekend at Opera North in .

It was a similar set to the last time we saw them in Saltaire about 18 months ago - but as that was one of the best gigs that I've been to, I didn't mind one bit. A mesmerising and innovative approach to Celtic folk.

(It feels rude to take pics during the concert so pic is from beforehand with their fab banner.)

Thoroughly recommend seeing Lau live - I like their recorded stuff but live is something else.

A relatively unknown artist that I saw play live in during 2007 is playing a live show in whilst I am there this month. :tiktok_stun:

17 years later and their set is going to be pretty much THE SAME SONGS as they were playing in 2007. :tiktok_awkward:

Do I go and see the show?

I must say I'm really enjoying the new English Teacher album. It's probably best thought of as post-punk but it defies easy categorization. It's as often chill as it is skronky and the vocals are talky but melodic. Their secret weapon is Lily Fontaine, the young, black, female poet they have as a vocalist/lyricist. The album is a real grower. It shouldn't be my thing at all but I'm really digging it https://englishteacher.bandcamp.com/album/this-could-be-texas

Saw the Brett Domino Trio film at the Hyde Park Picture House tonight - it's very funny. It's like the Weird Al film except really awkward and I suspect mostly true. They did a Q&A after the showing which wasn't supposed to be in character but had enough awkward moments that it was hard to be sure.

If you're in or anywhere near Leeds, try and see the "A Hip-Hop Journey - 50 Years of Kulture" exhibition at Leeds City Museum before it finished next weekend! Made the trip across to see it today and it was excellent 👍🏿

@RM_Transit A great video, and lovely to see a smaller UK city featured on the channel.

Now that HS2’s northern leg has been cancelled, the money saved should be going on systems like the one Reece is proposing. Instead, our zombie government is going to spend most of it on our bloody road network. 🤦‍♂️

So much for the levelling up agenda.
