Spent some time around the Moss Vale area today. A 421 class locomotive in candy livery, running light engine (locomotive without carriages) was not what I expected to see!
Creating #locomotives with batteries to capture all the electricity lost during downhill braking seems like such low hanging fruit that would quickly pay for itself in fuel savings. How has no one come up with this yet? #Railroads#GreenEnergy#locomotive#ZeroCarbon
A couple years ago, I was out in the middle of a snow storm, getting as many photographs as I could. On my way home, I spotted the Norfolk Southern 1198 train just sitting on the tracks. The engines were idling, and when they turned on the lights, I knew they were getting ready to move on.
A while ago I went to see some of the locomotives restored by the #FortWayneRailroad Historical Society in #Indiana, and I took some #pictures. The first #photograph is of steam #locomotive#NKP765 just after it returned from a passenger run. The second locomotive is the newly restored #NKP358. This might even have been its first time in public since #restoration.
