I’m a #cataloging and #TechnicalServices librarian at a small #LiberalArts#college in #Louisiana. I am married to a now retired USAF guy and have two teen daughters who are pretty terrific (if I do say so myself). Also residing in the house are 3 cats who are usually plotting the demise of my dog.
The Louisiana Industry Defense Council has rebranded itself as the Louisiana Industry Sustainability Council, but don’t let that fool you, their message is the same: ignore locals’ desires for a clean, healthy #environment and promote #industry at all costs.
In an area known as #CancerAlley is it really unreasonable to be weary of new development?
I was going to say that there are no mountains in Louisiana. But doing a quick search, I found a place called Mount Driskill which rises a whopping 535 feet above sea level. Still, is it really a mountain, or is it just a hill. It is the highest point in Louisiana which does have changes in elevation. My house sits on a small hill.

"Louisiana’s coast is among the most rapidly disappearing places on earth: What is lost amounts roughly to the size of the state of Delaware; what is left continues to go." —Lauren Stroh on the catastrophic effects of climate change in Louisiana. Her story, "Great American Wasteland" is a featured read in our #EarthDay collection.

He would say, "This one goes out to you, you and you!"
His son, Chris Thomas King, played the blues singer at the Crossroads in O Brother Where Art Thou?
I come from the land of very good music and very good food.
I didn't really know where to put all the rage and grief over the current legislative session here in #Louisiana, so I made a new podcast (as one does, of course).
"Sophie's Legislative Review & Authoritarian Bingo Extravaganza'' serves up everything one needs to know about each anti-#trans / anti-#LGBTQ+ bill in 15 minutes or less. It's updated as the bills move through committee
If you have a chance to listen, I'd love to hear what you think :)
