Is ProtonVPN & Mullvad affected by this attack? I use both of these services on daily basis. If they affected how can I mitigate this? #tech#privacy#linux#proton#mullvad
Made a script that connects automatically my computer to #MullvadVPN when joining a new, unknown network.
If you disconnect from the network, it disconnects from #Mullvad VPN, and if you connect to a know/trusted network, it will ignore it and won't use the VPN.
🔒 #Privacy enthusiasts, take note! @privacytests has released a new category in its evaluations: 'DNS Privacy Tests'. Most browsers fail to encrypt DNS queries, leaving user data exposed in many countries - exceptions: @mullvadnet & @torproject
Many VPN providers use dishonest marketing such as "unprotected" and "complete anonymity". @protonvpn, @mullvadnet and @ivpn are superior in this regard.
Also, this site is helpful when considering whether you really need a VPN.
It has already been possible to change an #iPhone's default web browser through the "Settings" app since iOS 14.
#Apple has a March 6 legal deadline to introduce app sideloading in the European Union in order to comply with the Digital Markets Act #DMA, and iOS 17.4 will add support for this. #Sideloading will allow Apple users to download apps outside of the App Store, but the change will be limited to customers in the EU.
Now is an opportunity to improve your web experience… and your safety…
• unmigrated accounts on legacy browser—such as #Safari
• pro liaison on a browser approved by your organization
• consuming, online streaming, on the all-purpose browser: #Firefox (then Settings > Privacy)
• social media on a speedy browser—such as #unGoogled (but you must update)
• online banking, health, sysadmin & sensitive stuff on a hardened browser—such as #LibreWolf or #Mullvad's browser
So annoyed by those "cookies consent" pop ups! 😡
My #AdGuard doesn't seem to block them.
My #NextDNS either.
Nor #Mullvad .
What's the best approach here? Create a custom rule every time in AdGuard? Report it somewhere (e.g. one of NextDNS lists)? "Accept all" hoping that my protections will shield me from all theses trackers?
Wondering whether the increased cost of doing a DNS lookup with DNS over TLS or DNS over HTTPS (DoT, DoH) compared to unencrypted DNS means it is safer to host a public recursive resolver.
For example I see #mullvad provide public DoH and DoT servers [1] but no plain DNS, and I've been serving DoT for a while at dns.srcbeat.com too.
Let's be clear, the #Plex network ban on #Hetzner data centers is dumb, and not everyone is in a position to migrate away from Hetzner because one company made a stupid decision
This article outlines in great (but hopefully comprehensible) detail how you can use a #WireGuard#VPN provider like #Mullvad to circumvent the network ban and continue using your Hetzner server to host Plex
Meta wants you to keep Facebook Link History on, here’s why you shouldn’t:
“Meta injects special “keylogging” JavaScript onto the website you’re visiting that allows the company to monitor everything you type and tap on, including passwords.”
We are counting downs the days until 2024 and are excited about the things that will happen next year. But first, let’s take a look at the special year of 2023.
#Privacy tip, for those wanting to purge big social media as much as you can. On #Android , you can set your #private#DNS to "extended.dns.mullvad.net" to add an DNS filter that blocks those domains. Of course it has #AdBlock, tracker, and malware blocking as well on top of it, so it's just safer in general.
#Mullvad 's DNS service is awesome, and you can basically set it up for any device! I have it set up on my #Linux workstations, and even my router as well.
