A perfect chance to escape the feeds for a bit, interact with and directly support an awesome independent artist outside of the pressures of other platforms.
I've been working for a while on this, so I decided I should share it with the intranet, world, whatever this is. I'm not expecting it to do a lot, since owncast is largely unknown in the sphere where this might be useful, but here goes, hopefully someone has some kind of use out of it
what is this?
This is a program that reads #owncast chats for you aloud, using your system's text to speech engine. For windows, that would be tolk, so your screenreader of choice, while for linux, that would be speech dispatcher.
is this scraping the page?
Well, no, not really. Instead, it's more like the owncast client itself. This works by joining the stream as a bot, viewing chat as it comes in, then forwarding it to your screenreader or speech dispatcher
how to use it?
compile it(no binaries this time, sorry!)
you run it once from the terminal, and it will tell you what to do
a new file, called settings.toml, will appear in your folder. The variable names are pretty self-explanatory, edit them and run the program again
enjoy!
to exit, do so with ctrl+c, don't mind the error exit code, it's fine, you're fine, the world is fine, blame cargo, tokio or something like that, ok?

send them not via email, but via a dm on here, or matrix @bgtlover:stealthy.club, as patch files

[LIVE] mit „Lost Chronicles of Zerzura“. Wir erleben die Geschichte der Brüder Ramon und Feodor, die im Barcelona des 15. Jahrhunderts leben. Sie wollen sich als Erfinder einen Namen machen. Der Ärger läßt nicht lange auf sich warten. In deutscher Sprache, und natürlich unter #Linux. https://live.hatnix.net#Owncast#Gaming#DRMfree#Livestream#hatclan

Anyone on here who has been brave enough to start an OwnCast server...
I've never done this before but have an old Chromebook I could convert into a server. If I did so, would it likely be strong enough to hold up to occasional streaming endeavors or nah? I'd mostly be sharing some of my physical media with folks to watch together.

Hello again #Fediverse, I may need your #fedihelp. So, here's a list of the Fediverse software I'm about to make temporary accounts for to test all the features and differences:
So, did I miss anything noteworthy? Does anyone have any tips or recommendations before I choose a server for any one of these? I'll probably be going for the most popular server on each for improved federation and maintenance.
Note: I'm using #Sharkey right now and Misskey forks are already overrepresented, so that's why it's not included.
Chat is on if you'd like to participate or just #joinIn for a lovely listen.
These are usually a fun time for some comradery and a perfect chance to interact with and directly support an awesome independent artist outside of the pressures of other platforms.

Announcement: Tlapbot 1.2.2 is out!
New version that fixes issues with Owncast v0.1.2 (I was accidentally relying on buggy behavior and the bugs got fixed :tlapkaStare:)
Fixes:
Commands work again with Owncast 0.1.2
Line breaks are no longer missing from help message with Owncast 0.1.2
LIST_REDEEMS toggle was fixed to work with milestones, and !help only lists active redeems now
Next goal is still automatic queue/counter resets on stream start, but I wanted to release a fix that makes Tlapbot work with the current Owncast version.
