How do I know? Easy: They're running ads in primetime for the next movie. They will not release one of those without star promo.

99.9% that means they give the actors what they want.

‘The Peripheral’ Canceled at Amazon Despite Season 2 Renewal

Amazon cancelled the show despite renewing it already for season 2 and the reason they’re citing: WGA & SAG strikes and the show won’t be ready till the 2025 season.

They also killed the new season of A League Of Their Own.

Get ready, I’m predicting we will see a LOT of this not only on the streaming services but on the networks.

It’s going to be a bloodbath

Do not believe David Zaslav when he says Warner Bros. Discovery saved 100 million dollars because of the strike. This should be an immediate propaganda red flag for everyone. It's all spin to attempt to give the studios more negotiating power with and the

They didn’t save $100 million. These are the same people who call unrealized gains losses. This is just that, but inverted. They are lying.

Stop blaming strikes for economic damage. Strikes are a logical response to overreach and greed from corporations and the wealthy. If there is resulting economic damage, look to those who drove the workers to strike in the first instance.

Worker/artist owned cooperative — with distribution, to tell their own stories. Images below.

  1. Workers, writers, and artists start a cooperative production company

  2. They license/option existing stories to the company (which they own together!) and put stories on a website where audiences can access them

  3. Stories can be scripts, treatments, readings, storyboards — it's great material in those formats, and people will dive into those stories just the same

  4. Share the website (distribution!) with followings, along with a way to subscribe

  5. You now have a worker/writer/artist owned cooperative, with distribution, stories, and an audience!

More details in the images below, made as a guide/resource to be helpful.

Page 2 of 2 << Back Start lo-fi productions This is the alternative to the Hollywood studio and streaming system. Workers and artists start low-budget productions, for their own cooperative and distribution website and audience. Even if it’s shot on a smartphone in a single room over a weekend. Non-extractive funding (if helpful) If the cooperative wants more resources - to make more stories, get more workers and crew involved, or anything else - the success thus far can be the basis for non-extractive funding (like loans, revenue-based financing, or even advertising fom businesses you want to support - like a local farm, a direct action group, or a bicycle company.) Funders are paid back through revenue, whether subscriptions or advertisements or earned income or other possibilities. How to start? Workers, writers, artists interested in leading their own cooperative production company. They license/option stories to the cooperative, which they co-own! They meet with a lawyer who’s on the same page, to make the legal framework. All members have a profit-share in the cooperative overall - it probably makes sense that people also have a profit-share in the projects they work on directly. The cooperative puts up a website which gives audience access to scripts, treatments, readings, storyboards, and stories. (Distribution!) Ran out of characters here, will post the rest of the description in the toots. Feel free to contact for more details as well.

Performers should absolutely have some control over their digital likeness. An unfortunate side effect of the (from a standpoint) is that getting actors and extras into the "cyberscan" or photo booth for digital double reference capture is going to be a whole lot messier going forward. I completely understand the concerns, but oof. Actors: On-set VFX teams are really not out to screw you over. Just trying to make the audience believe you did that impossible stunt for real.

I joined SAG in 1959, a member for 64 years.

In 1960, Ronald Reagan led the call for an actor’s strike. He riled up a meeting at the Hollywood Palladium shouting “Strike, strike, strike!”

I voted for the actors’ strike authorization this June and support the WGA.

We're in solidarity.

Just finishing up cancelling our streaming subscriptions, to support striking workers.

Many have offered extremely steep discounts (over 50% off) for loooong periods, like 3-6 months. IDK if these offers are a specific response to people cancelling in support of strikers, or what.

Either way, seems clear we've been overcharged by corps by at least 50% this whole time. So that's interesting.

We're going to save a lot of money to boot.

No "you guys are leeches" option?

We don't want to see you go you go But if you must, can you tell us the main reason why? O I don't like ads @ Due to personal reasons (life change) O I'm using other services O Content availability (shows, movies or sports not available) O It's temporary, I'll be back O Technical issues (buffering, devices, features) O Payment or other account issues O Cost is too expensive
