Wrote a short post on a silly blunder I made when using the SDK in while listing S3 objects:

https://lyndon.codes/2024/02/29/fixing-a-bug-in-s3-object-listing-in-scala/

Good opportunity to explore some good practices that could have prevented me making such a bug, like and design.

@coveragepy can now use Python 3.12's new sys.monitoring module with much lower overhead.

On 3.12, it's about the same as if you were running tests without coverage enabled!

https://nedbatchelder.com/blog/202312/coveragepy_with_sysmonitoring.html

With 7.4.2, you can set COVERAGE_CORE=sysmon globally on your CI, and it'll only use it where available (Python 3.12 and 3.13 alpha), and use the default for 3.11 and older.

For example, @pillow is 9% - 27% faster!

Love how the peerless ARC Toolkit Chrome extension links to v2.2 SCs not 2.1. Not sure what I expected, but it’s just nice to see that it does 😊

Note to self, if Visual Studio or Rider can't find your tests, maybe check whether you're in an abstract class or have a non-public constructor... 🙄

I can find out more about the current #covid situation in #America than I can where I live🙁
Will the next #booster hit the right #variant? Most of us will not be entitled to another #vaccine anyway as they are being further restricted. Our #Government would rather throw #vaccines away than keep people #healthy.

Hot take: frontend libraries should E2E test the examples in their docs and nothing else.

If you'd need some utility method/class that is just used within testing context, where would you put that?

ActivityPub for WordPress was updated today adding Bidirectional Comment Federation.

Means I can type in the comments to replies and they should federate back over to the original thread. Before, WordPress really couldn’t act as a discussion federator; I made it easy on myself by just federating my comment URLs via webmention to wherever they needed to go manually (copy comment, paste into other website text box, submit.) Or at the very best, use my Mastodon or MicroBlog account to respond. Hopefully this makes replying back to others easier now; although I still don’t know about Webmention support or how it works in syndication…

I guess let’s find out? 🙈

I've created a macro that allows Value-Parameterized Tests (P Tests) to know where their constructor is and so can report what the actual line of code in your test suite you need to pay attention to.

I couldn't find anyone anywhere who had solved this yet. Although I admit my design isn't perfect, it does however follow the escalating complexity pattern so regular test writers have the easiest interface.

Which makes me very happy.
