@mekkaokereke There's plenty of criticism (& I've done it) of the US and our terrible history, racial injustices, and anti- laws. But I fail to understand how ignoring genocide in China, or downplaying crimes against and , helps?

Tesla, btw, is an ideal partner for , in many ways (just as Twitter is becoming a venue for Chinese misinformation). & Chinese carmakers are the worst when it comes to sourcing & labor

Stunning. 34% of the population in Chinese prisons are #Uyghurs, who make up ~1-2% of the population.

China has a top-down strategy to, basically, criminalize an entire ethnic group and, with time, eliminate their unique cultural, religious, and social identity.

Partnering or working with the Chinese government means supporting these genocidal policies. That includes #climate & #environment groups, too.

For 7 years now, celebrating Eid with loved ones has been out of reach due to China's mass atrocities against , as part of which my wife Muherrem Ablet has been arbitrarily incarcerated and our two adorable kids trapped incommunicado in our hometown since 2017. The pain and trauma this ongoing mass persecution left on us are beyond imagination.
